The game takes place during late World War II, from 1944 to 1945. The dramatic events of D-Day gave the Allies a foothold on Fortress Europe, allowing them to push the Germans back to Berlin.

Starting with a small deck of 12 cards, players build their empire by buying the best cards in order to out-maneuver other players to obtain trophies and prestige.
