Game Programmer
A programmer in this role will work closely with the lead programmer, designers, artists, and musicians with a great deal of autonomy to develop new systems and gameplay. Roles often shift, and programmers will work on a variety of tasks and can learn new specialties. The team is full of creative people who write great games and have fun doing it.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, debug and document new game systems and tools in C++
- Must create high quality, high performance code
- Follow coding standards and best practices
- Provide accurate time estimates for tasks and work within those constraints
- Work cohesively with a team of programmers, artists and designers
Requirements:
- B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 4 or more years of C/C++ experience.
- 2 or more years of game industry experience preferred.
- Must be an avid gamer with a passion for creating great games
- Ability to work independently and to be self-directing.
- Able to work occasional long hours.

Level Designer
Petroglyph is looking for a talented level designer with experience building levels. The ideal candidate has industry experience. Level designers need to be able to create fun and interesting environments that look and play great.
Requirements:
- Absolute Passion for playing and creating video games.
- Experience creating levels in 3D RTS game toolset (Warcraft 3, Command & Conquer, Age of Empires, etc)
- Great sense for what makes a game or level fun to play.
- Ability to make an artistically interesting environment using textures, height and props
- Must be able to do limited scripting or using triggers in game toolset.
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Minimum of 2 years game or level design related experience
- Minimum 1 shipped title on a Triple-A game where credited as a level Designer
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
- A passion for architecture and environment design
Preferred:
- Experience in Photoshop.
- Ability to script interesting cinematic sequences using in-game art.
- Experience working on both PC and current leading console platforms
- Knowledge and understanding of trends in game design

Technical Artist
As a Technical Artist, you will be a member of an art staff involved in the creation of next-generation console games. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Create low- and high-polygon environment objects, characters, and other models based on art direction and gameplay requirements
- Create and modify custom scripts for the art team
- Understand and maintain production pipeline and workflow
- Technical Liaison for external development teams
- Design and create particle effects
- Document technical aspects of tools and production pipeline
- Provide technical support for the art team
- Develop art production tools in conjunction with the programmers
Required Qualifications:
- 3 years experience within the gaming industry
- Familiarity with scripting languages
- Excellent knowledge of various game development tools (e.g. 3D Studio Max, Photoshop, custom tools, including rigging and weighting)
- Familiarity with game development life cycle and design process from concept to delivery
- Excellent work ethic with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in team environment
Desired Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Fine Arts
- Understanding of animation principles and 3D character animation
- Strong desire to create exceptional games

UI Artist
The User Interface/Graphic Design Artist works with the Lead Artist, Designers and Programmers to establish functional and attractive interfaces for computer games and websites. UI Artists are responsible for creating fully interactive menu systems that push the limits of 2D and/or 3D and enhances the overall aesthetic of the project.
Requirements:
- The UI Artist should have a good understanding of Flash & web design, including the ability to create custom well crafted bitmaps, icons, skins, etc.
- The UI Artist must demonstrate a broad range of skills and abilities, including core graphic design competencies (composition and layout, typography, color and light), drawing and/or painting skills and experience working within the constraints of console development.
- Must have the ability to conceptualize, present, and execute ideas within a schedule, while actively participating in technical and artistic problem solving.
- Successful User Interface Artists are able to quickly understand custom toolsets and deliver assets within the confines of real time engine constraints and programming demands.
- Strong knowledge of design as it relates to user-interface and ergonomics is a must.
- Industry experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Photoshop is required.
- Knowledge of 3D Studio Max preferred.

FX Artist
Responsibilities:
- In-Game Particle Effects work, Explosions, Gunfire, Energy FX, weather effects, etc.
- Communicate with programmers/designers as necessary to bring tasks to completion
- Provide creative input specific to assigned tasks
- Learn graphic tools & processes as required
Requirements:
- Fluent in 3D Studio MAX & Photoshop
- Must have a technical understanding of computer applications
- Basic understanding of XML
- 2+ years of professional CG experience
- Must have excellent understanding of Particle systems to create realistic CG effects
- Ability to fine tune work at the pixel level
- Passion for games
- Must have good written and oral communication skills
- Great portfolio in digital media
- Must have 'team' attitude
- Must have the ability to conceptualize, present and execute ideas
Preferred Requirements:
- Movie industry and/or Game industry Effects work in CG
- Bachelor of the Fine Arts degree or related program
- Modeling/texturing skills a plus

Senior 3D Artist (Console Title)
Petroglyph is looking for an exceptionally skilled Senior 3D Artist. The ideal candidate has experience creating all aspects of video game art, including modeling and texturing low to high poly models. Rigging, and animation for console games is an additional plus. You must be fully versed using 3DS Max and ready for technical challenges while working closely with the art and programming staff.
Requirements:
- 3+ years industry experience using 3DS Max and Photoshop
- Previous experience working on a console title with at least one shipped title
- Expert in creating efficient low polygon models
- Ability to create high-quality PhotoShop textures
- Must work well in a team environment and be open to direction
- Have a passion for making great games
Desired:
- Experience in rigging and animating
- Experience with creating in-game FX
- Adaptability to learn proprietary tools and a strong technical background using art tools
- Drawing ability with an understanding of human anatomy and/or architectural elements
