Joe Bostic has worked on titles for top publishers in the video game industry for over 22 years, including Westwood Studios which developed: Eye of the Beholder, The Legend of Kyrandia, Dune II, Lands of Lore series, early Command & Conquer games, and others.

He is currently a Co-Founder and Creative Director at Petroglyph, overseeing, implementing, and content creating for design on many projects, including the newly announce Victory game:

Joe will be doing a Reddit AmA to talk about his past development in the RTS genre. This will be a great chance to ask him about projects going as far back as Dune II from 1992!

The AmA has begun and will run throughout the day!

I would like to ask a question here, if its acceptable.
Hey Joe!
This is a huge Westwood fan from Russia.
What is your favorite C&C game and why?
What do you think about the C&C4, about the gameplay and storyline.

Good Luck!

My favorite C&C game would be the original Command & Conquer. It was just enough advanced from Dune II yet not so loaded with features that came with later iterations of the genre. It was the most "pure" of the RTS genre. The biggest thing that made C&C much easier to play than Dune II is the drag-select for units and context sensitive mouse commands (click on unit to attack, click on ground to move). C&C 4 is interesting and fun, but since it is oriented away from traditional base building and more toward PvP, it doesn't have that nostalgic magic of the original RTS formula that I enjoy. There is just something appealing about building up an "impenetrable" fortress base while amassing a juggernaut of an army before clashing with the enemy in earnest.
