You know I once did suggest something like that, giving resource-generating capability to Hierarchy and Novus

But the idea isn't as crazy as yours of course :lol:


btw Purified have you tried adding more team colours? UAW has no purple or dark green (the green available is light green)

You heard wrong. I have a Lua disassembler, but that's not a decompiler, nor is it really useful for the average modder. I do want to create a decompiler, and have made various attempts, but it's not easy.

Unfortunately it's an all-or-nothing thing. Either it works completely, or not.

Amusingly, even the res centers are going to be the Novus rm generators (thought it would be boring if all faction command centers where to make more rm, so switched to the next most sensible thing, the res center :p).

As to colors, I can try that, although it either requires more textures (beyond my ability) or something lua/GUI related (also beyond my abilities). <_<

It shouldn't be texture related, I can tell you that.

GUI...if it's anything like EaW, you would need to make the box for color selection bigger. Not sure how UaW sets entries for colors though. You could always edit the existing colors, however.

Hey pur, everytime Im on UaW, I see you modding...thinking about releasing these mods? I would find enjoyment without end. Oh, and when you do release this mod...don't make a list of changes...LOL.

I would want to see some of the people's reactions to some of the stuff they saw on the pics, but also some stuff Im sure you didn't mention to any of us. Lol. Make a good buffer period between Kel's Expansion and Mike.Nl's Map Editor.

I did some experimentation with scarn (beam) cannon objects. Beam cannon defilers can make slaves instead of explosions when they shoot. Here's a screeny of that.Posted Image
Others things I have made defs create: saucers, spitters, and even walkers. I'll bet that you can make any object in the game with the beam cannon. So, it's probably possible to make rows upon rows of cows. Hers' a shot of the strangeness that happens when the spitters are invoked.Posted Image

These features, unfortunately, will not be in the mod, as they will throw the bisbalance far too much off. Plus, defs that spawn slaves will lag a comp pretty quickly.

Some things I am currently trying to get work are H troop saucers (which are buildable from assembly walkers) to fire at stuff.

I like that Defiler (or as it is now called Spawner :p).

By any chance is is possible to make the Transport Saucer use Kamal's Abduction ability as it's main attack? (I've been wanting to do that but haven't been able. :()

Wow the Defiler looks really good with the Beam Cannon effect. If the beam were green it'd be a really great replacement for the current meh-ish beam for the Defiler. Beam Cannon's efffect is so pretty, shame it is restricted to the Assembly Walker in late game so you rarely see the effect.

As for the Scarn beam object creation... I bet there can be some use for that... it opens up a lot of possibilities for things like unit production. Speaking of that, you should try making the Mass Drop rain a hail of nothing but cows...

A bit more to update:
First off, grunts get a special ability grenade that functions a lot more like a real grenade. ^_^

I also found out Orlok has hardpoints. :p  Naturally, I immediately went to work on him. Now Orlok gets a beam cannon in endure mode.

Beam cannons are seen quite a bit in this mode. Units that use beam cannons so far:
  • Beam Cannon Defilers
  • Beam Cannon Corrupters
  • Rad Beam Cannon PB
  • Orlok in endure mode

I also played a game vs the AI with my mod today as H, here are my results.

oh, and the beam cannon object building does have it's potentials, I got the idea of trying to get Orlok to build FIs with his beam cannon. Though I like the regular beam cannon on him better  :p

I always figured Orlok had hardpoints, I assumed that's where his Siege cannon horns come from.

Should try making a Cascade Orlok, ultimate bringer of destruction. Hmm... Cascorlok...

For Corruptors I think they should get that rapid fire variant weapon you showed before, rather than a beam. It suits them better.

If I'm not wrong, the small MG on Thumper's turret might also be a hardpoint

Hardpoints are just bones, all units have bones for animation or attachments

I've gotten into modding the colors. I don't think I can add new ones (need GUIs), but I can modify the existing ones.

ohm bots are tiny, and barely get colored :p. Besides, your opinion is not the only one. I can't design a mod that will suit every single person in the community.

The dark green is awesome. I vastly prefer it over the current lighter green.

purple is great too. I vote that it replace pink, which I never use.

White I dunno... would probably only look nice on Novus.


Just another thing to ask, any idea if there's a way to enable night settings on the skirmish maps? Daylight is getting boring and I only see night during Conquer The World

So far, the colors are replacing their most obvious similar:
  • pink = purple
  • light green = dark green
  • light cyan = dark cyan
  • yellow = goldenrod
  • grey = white
As for time of day. I think that if I made it to night, it would always be night and never day. Though, at least it'd be a change :p.

So far i'm only uncomfortable with the change from grey to white. the thing I like about grey is that it suits all 3 factions. With white, only Novus will look good. The Hierarchy and Masari have darker tones and the white will stand out quite a little... hmm...

care to post white Masari pics (especially buildings) to give me a better idea?

The white is really quite similar to grey imo, there's not that much color change.

I have enabled a new unit for Novus. A massive arial assault unit. It takes on the model of the reflector. It gets 2 pb tractor beams and fires rail gun projectiles.
