General Features: ArmA

    * DX9 Engine incorporating many of the latest features, including High Dynamic Range rendering
    * Fully streaming game engine allowing extremely large environments loaded with various special effects
    * New huge sized battlefield (landmass exceeds that of all islands from Flashpoint & Resistance combined)
    * Dynamic weather and daytime simulation (including tides and star constellations)
    * Ambient wildlife
    * Large selection of weapons and vehicles
    * Unique and proven combatant's AI
    * ArmA's campaign features a brand new story-line, with a modern day setting
    * Campaign's setting and events inspired by real world events, military strategies and political doctrines
    * 60+ player multiplayer (plus additional AI), players can join at any time in large, persistent battles.
    * Cooperative game modes

Looks nice and even if it isn't a flight sim, it does contain planes :). I checked out Operation Flashpoint and seem to prefer this game over it. When I see the ArmA 1 in stores I'll grab it and hope it still runs on my computer. Well, if I do get it whos willing to join me in some ArmA fun? ArmA 2 will come out in June so we got enough time  to play the first:P. Once I master the planes it be sweet, but ya I need to acquire the game first.

If its a more opened ended world then I'm all up for it (as in no time limit and more like Counter Strike played out with lives).

I'll check out the modding community and more information on this game tomorrow.....

Depending on how Operation Flashpoint is (and the system requirements for this game), I might get it eventually.

http://operationflas....filefront.com/

They have Armed Assault mods there, too.

ArmA?
Sort of. It's a tactical war simulation played with the fpp that strives for high realism. Fairly good, but I'd get Operation Flashpoint if I were You - it's much better in pretty much every aspect (save the graphics department, of course).

They also tweaked some of the basic programming in the background. ArmA's government equivalent can be found at  http://virtualbattlespace.vbs2.com/

I'd play Operation Flashpoint , maybe that second one coming out. Try and tempt me to get it while I got this in sight:

But ya its only one plane.

Also went to EB games to try and pick it up but they didn't have it in stock :( Blah.

Ghostly, try eBay. I bought the game off of there last week, and there are a lot of Game of the Year editions (but they're quite a step up in price from Cold War Crisis).

If its Ebay then it be near impossible for me to acquire. It needs to be either local or playasia, or something trust worthy shopping site.

edit: Forgot about Amazon, gonna try it out.
edit#2: Crap wtf? Even there I can't? :( And developers wonder why people torrent games lol.

Ya sorry if I've been talking a lot about ArmA recently but I can't help it, its like Battlefield hype lol. I just want to fly something since no game really gives me any options to fly properly. Well maybe Flight Sim, but no combat in it.

I linked the demo in the first post for those who want to try it out "for free" :p. If we can play one of those quick scenarios then join me in one I can't survive in. No matter how many I kill I can't get to the extraction point due to AI respawns (it seems).

Me to. I just want to pilot something and sniper people :p.

edit: Well, if your up for some quick ArmA and can't pay, demo will do as well. I'm up for a game now that I tried the demo and seen it has multiplayer.

Well, if they're playing on their experiences with VBS 2, ArmA2 should be amazing.

Here's a detailed, very well written preview of ArmA II.
Suddenly, it appeared at the top of my 'must buy' games... It'd better not disappoint.
ArmAII is currently scheduled for a June 19th release date.

Didn't like ArmA 1, nice concept though, hope ArmA 2 got improved on those tiny bits which marked Arma 1 as a dislike in my list!

Pirated version ^_^. I'll keep saying that until it gets marked in your brain. But, yes even then it does contain bugs but not the kinds you faced (15 minutes loading time and etc).

And yes, reading the link Von posted it looks like ArmA 2 will be a nice great leap forward. We got civilians that react to your actions (Help you if you help them, kills you if you kill them), improved vehicles and weaponry, enhanced UI, nicely detailed scenery, and an improved injury system as with AI intelligence. The AI can finally bunch up properly and act on their own. Heres to hoping whats been listed is actually slightly more improved when released.

The cons would be lack of naval units and a larger map to play on.
