I think schools should be fitted with those clever devices that block the transmission signals.  I mean, the kids are there to learn, not text.  Of course, the school grounds, dining hall, etc wouldn't be blocked, so kids can still use them outside lessons if need be.

Yep, I'm in such a school.

It's a royal pain. I have eight miles to walk every day (four miles there, four miles back) and I can't help but feel that I'd be safer doing it if I have the means to call home if need be. That says, everybody takes their phones in anyway. I also take my iPod, as I wouldn't want to go a whole day without music.

Although I must admit, I'd like one of Slornie's signal blockers in school. There's a girl who spends every French lesson texting her boyfriend. I'm no nerd but she spends the whole lesson sending him messages of no real importance and recieving messages back and that sure as hell ain't good for her education. I mean, you can be in love and not feel the urgant need to talk about meaningless chat every minute! Plus I always thought it was kind of odd that every text message she sent ended in "Love you so much XXXXXX", as well as every message she recieved. I mean, I can understand if you're just texting someone once you could say that, but these are people talking with the same type of rapid-fire speech you use on something like MSN! I mean, you don't see me ending every MSN message with "Love you so much XXXXXX", even if I did have a girlfriend.

Yeah, i can never understand people who do that ^.  It just seems rather OTT.

Another thing that i hate about the proliferation of mobile phones is that the average age for a kid to get one is now 8!*  Seriously, wtf does an 8yr old need a mobile for?
