Reading a really interesting book called "Churchhill, Hitler, and the Unnecessary War". It's a book about the events leading up to WWI-2, and how these wars could have been avoided entirely. It also claims that these wars are responsible for the the fall of Western Civilization.

As do I, Angels and Demons was far more interesting and enjoyable than The Da Vinci Code. Even if Angels and Demons was a lot more like an episode of Scooby-Doo.

Use the quote function when referring to a post that is not directly above yours. It took me a minute to figure out that you were talking about Pyro's post.

Japan ain't western. And nothing in Pyro's post made reference to that. Though Japan has been increasingly westernized along with the rest of the world. McDonalds, Jeans, suits and ties, Coca-Cola, etc.

I'm at about page 120, including the intro and foreword. Only four hundred pages to go...

Yeah after thinking about it I figured out my post was meaningless.

Just finished Dark Calling by Darren Shan. I picked it up a bit after lunch and read it within two hours  ^_^ Not the best book in the series, but engaging regardless.

For my birthday my mom let me get a book from our local bookstore and she would buy it. So I got a nice big fat juicy 600 page book entitled 'Medieval Warfare' by Peter Reid.  ^_^

I'm going through it slowly though, I'm also reading it simultaneously along with the following books:

21: The Final Unfinished Voyage of Jack Aubrey - Patrick O'Brian
Clash of Titans: World War II at Sea - Walter J. Boyne
Taker Her Deep: A Submarine against Japan in World War II - Admiral I.J. Galantin U.S.M (Ret)
Final Patrol: True Stories of World War II Submarines - Don Keith
A War Like No Other: How the Athenians and Spartans Fought the Peloponnesian War - Victor Davis Hanson

yeah... All of them but one are thick historical non fiction.

XD

Earlier I read The Time Machine, The Island of Doctor Moreau, The Invisible Man, and The War of the Worlds. All written by H.G. Wells and all are excellent works.

Now reading:
Cracking the AP World History Exam 2009 Edition by The Princeton Review and friends

The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury

Both are quite good.

Currently reading Fever Crumb by Phillip Reeve, a prequel to his Mortal Engines quartet which is my favourite book series of all time.

Because it's the first chronologcally, Crumb lacks a lot of the imaginative steampunk futuristicness of the others; it lacks that sense of awe-inspiring wildness. But it still posesses great characters (the protagonist and her colleagues bearing a very disturbing resemblance to Mike.nl), a cool story, masterful suspense, subtle morality, yadayadayadayada...

A worthy prequel addition and a good book, although my least favourite out of the five in the series.

I read that series a few years ago.  The only things I remember are that they're really good, that 2001 is better and less pretentious than the movie, and that in one of them (3001 I think) they have terabyte tablets.  I was shocked by that in 2002.  I think that one was written in the '90s.

Archon's in his Visual Studio.  All's right with the world.

Quite new, I believe. I know it's the most recent of the series, but I don't know how long it's been out.

For the good of your soul, do it!

As long as you've finished Mortal Engines, Fever Crumb won't ruin anything for you as far as I've read. So far it's dealt mainly with the background of London during the period during which it becomes a traction city. You also get to meet Quirke which is cool.

That said, you should probably read the others first, mainly because they're all better and it's better to read the good books first . Although the other thing is that in Fever Crumb you get to meet Shrike before he became a Stalker and that has a much bigger impact if you read the whole quartet first, as Shrike by the end is something truly magnificent and epic.

As for what I'm reading...erm... still Fever Crumb!

Lol.  I seem to recall starting the third book in the series, but i think i got distracted by something else and gave up on it

Currently re-reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  One of my favourites of the series, along with Order of the Phoenix and Prisoner of Azkaban.
