The thread I am sharing some of my musical work. Since it mostly takes me very long for to finish a track, I won't shoot out my material all out once, rather perhaps weekly, if possible adding track by track and telling you some backstory to it
The first track to begin this is:
Space Odyssey
This was my second try to create a track for my band, after the first one was finally finished after almost one year and was received well by the other members. I actually had the idea for that initial bass-line a very long time ago and thought, it might be a cool guitar riff or something. But during a jam session with a friend of mine (we wanted to become creative and make a track that might fit into a video game...) I came across this pretty cool sequence of chords and they just didn't let me down. While my friend and me couldn't get anything longer than 20seconds on that day, I went home and still had those chords in mind. Arriving home, I imeediatly sat on the piano and played them again and suddenly figured out, that they pretty much fit to that guitar riff thing, I had the idea for a long time ago - but as a bass figure. So I ran into my room, popped GuitarPro 5 up (because this was until very recently the program, I did all of my music with) and put those two lines together. I thought, it sounds rather spacy, so I immediatly called it "space odyssey" and haven't changed the title since. Originally this track had 5 tracks, one guitar, two Keys, a bass and a drumline. I worked on it step by step the other day and when my buddy added the drumline, I thought, this might get pretty damn cool. But as the time passed I just didn't come up with good ideas anymore and it became more and more just random ideas put together in no specific order. One day I reached the point, I saw no more hope for this track - it was barely finished, but the structure was aweful, it had no climax and became more and more weak to the end... so I had two options: Either trying to finish the track as it was or just putting it on ice, which would've been a shame, since I thought the beginning was pretty cool...
OR: Deleting all the stuff from the point on where it became worse and begin writing from then on till the track is finished. After thinking about it, I chose the second option and HELL WAS IT WORTH IT!!! I soon found out, it was the right thing I did, so it didn't take long and I had roughly finished the track (still have the old GP file of it somewhere on a backup disc...). If you want to know, at 1'25" begins the part, from where I deleted all the former content and just began again. As you probably hear, I added a second guitar, since my band broke up at that time and I didn't have to focus on how 'playable' it would be.
So so far to the backstory. If you want to know how I did the MP3, I exported the GP5 file as a MIDI and imported it into Cubase and put some VSTis over all those tracks.
It is of course not mastered perfect and the VSTis don't fit THAT good and the guitars sound cheap... but I think it became quite listenable and hope you enjoy it
I'm open to any kind of feedback and if you think, the track sucks, then tell me, but your opinion should be founded
So, have fun!
I'll try to add one track at least weekly but I'll soon run out of my arsenal, so don't expect too much!
