Maybe this game will be more like a joke. A comedy. It'll be corny and stupid on purpose.
Yeah I'm sure that's what we all need, a comedy RTS.
Actually that might work. Remember the Worms series? An RTS based on that would be awesome. I loved blowing things up with bananas and sheep.

No one had made a very good RTS with a sense of humor. At least, not that I remember any.
Now, surrender your legal versions of UaW. Now!

It was an example of an insult that you might have taken my post as. Please, let's just forget this already.

No... please not..
I dislike Red alert 3 just because of that. I don't think it's close to being funny either...
It's not funny, its retarted. Just like some C&C 3 FMV's, retarted and funny to laugh at.
As for the theme for this game, I prefer either a sci-fi or fantasy, preferable sci-fi even though that setting has been done so many times. But honestly, was there ever a Sci-fi MMO with a serious tone?

Tabula Rasa was pretty serious.
Don't know many Sci-fi MMO's though. Global Agenda seems pretty serious too.
But Tabula Rasa had a pretty serious story which basically involved genocide, bio engineering, all that.

What's " retarted" about them?

Wasn't it supposed to be intense and thought-provoking?

If it wasn't for Mytheon I would have said "Ancient Era". Historical games are good, but too many would get, uhh, saturating.
Archon's in his Visual Studio. All's right with the world.

pfft. We're already saturated with sci-fi and modern. Too much, I'm bored of it all.

Thats only partially true. Sci fi usually consists just of lasers and floating tanks, but is still set up as infantry, taanks and airplanes, there aren't all that many space based RTSes, and nothing that challenges the basic formula. As for modern, all you ever see of that is near future stuff like generals, and current coonflict stuff. I think theres room for something more unconventional, and I am still waiting for a space navy that follows newtonian physics
As for ancient thats fine, but theres more to it than castles and knights, and fantasy doesn't have to be wizards and dragons. We have been shown by the various RPGs that you can use the archetypes without making gandolf Mk3. Why not do somethingwhere the healers, instead of being white mages, are warlocks who steal the life from enemies to give to allies, and the attackers, instead of being upstanding knights, are something akin to bloodthirsty Vikings.
Theres still room for more games in each genre, but I would rather see somone do a little mixing things up, as oposed to rehashing the same basic archetypes. The way UaW threw the concept of a base away for the heierarchy and resource gathering away for the Masari, is on of the major reason I like it.

Must be Sci-Fi WAAAAAAAY to much fantasy crap out there at the moment
plus sci-fi , with mecha makes it easier to get a teen rating that MMO's seem to crave these days , no blood without loosing realism

That's why I didn't vote for either. I think I picked Early Modern... I have an unexplainable interest in 19th Century England, and railroads.

Hah! +1 to you my friend! That's what I voted for too. Though 19th century isn't quite early modern. Early modern is 17th-18th centuries. Oliver Cromwell, pikes, cannons, arquebuses, musketeers, French Revolution, etc.
That's what I'd like to see.
Though 19th century would be great too. Pre-WWI Industrial era tech and all, Dreadnoughts, rifles, breech loading and quick firing artillery, all the horror of modern warfare but with the splendor and pomp of the previous centuries.
We need more games like this and less fantasy and sci-fi.

Pre WWI would eliminate some possibilities though, like flying units... I'm going to miss the heli...

Ohhhh , I see what you really want, you want a steam powered mecha
I picked Sci-Fi, but really most settings would do. It all depends of the theme design, of course its easier to fall to clichés in themes that have been overdone.
There is also the chance of making something by mixing themes.
