Details:
1. The tournament will be all space using the Galactic Civil War minimod (V2) for Empire at War.
2. The matches will be set up to accommodate the players. What I mean, is if somebody lives in one timezone, we will be matching them with the person in the nearest time zone, and the specific day and time of the matches will be determined by the players.
3. Each match will be the best of three games. Players will switch between Rebellion and Empire for each round.
4. The winner will get the prizes shown below. If it is a staff member that wins, then the member who came closest to winning gets it.
Prizes:
1. Beta Tester Position*
2. 1 Map Layout of your choice.
3. 1 Render of your choice.
4. Mention in the readme.
5. Space Skirmish Map.
6. A special project I'm working on. May or may not actually get to finish it...
We are still open to suggestions for prizes, so if you have any, PM me.
*= You only get this if you actually win, not win because you were the member that came closest to winning and a staff member actually won.
To apply, post here, preferably with your timezone:

I'll start this off by saying we've added two new mirrors for the Fall of the Republic minimod on the downloads page. The minimod is now available from EaW Filefront, as well as a new filefront link to a zip file, as it was requested by many people. The new links are on the FotR minimod page on the site.
Next, I'll explain some of the more gameplay related changes we've made. One of the major ones would be the shipyards. Each faction has three different shipyard types: Capital, Heavy Frigate, and Corvette/Light Frigate. There is also a fourth type, the Heavy Capital shipyard, however they are only used by a few factions, and are not in skirmish. Each different shipyard level can only be built on certain planets; Light Frigate/Corvette Shipyards are buildable on all but the most backwater planets such as Helska IV, Heavy Frigate Shipyards are buildable mainly on highly, populated, industrial or important planets like Xa Fel, Mechis IV, Corulag and Bothawui. Capital shipyards are only available on planets that canonically have shipyards, such as Mon Calamari, Kuat, Fondor, Bilbringi and Sluis Van. These are limited even further by the type of ship, for example Kuat may be able to support a capital shipyard, but this is pointless to the Rebels, as their capital ships are all fishtanks, and require Calamarian crew.
The next one is the popcap. I've mentioned a raised popcap before, but we've never given an exact number. With the 4x larger maps, we needed to have more units to populate them, seeing as in FoC the pop cap seemed way too small even with the smaller maps. On land, the population cap is now 20 for all planets, and in space there is not yet a set number, it fluctuates between 70 and 100, and we will continually be adjusting it to what we feel works best. For lower end machines, we will be releasing a patch with a lower pop cap, probably between 40 and 50.
Next we have a few ingame pictures of the three Golan platforms, and a small Rebel task force. Click for full size images.

And a skinned render of the Warlord.

And some news on the site. I'd like to get a bit more information and other stuff on it in the near future. I'm currently working on adding unit lists to the different factions on the factions page. When I'm done, each of the logos will link to a page with a description of the faction and a unit list. I also plan on getting an image gallery put on the site, however this will have to wait until Nezill is back in action.
Finally, we are in desperate need of skilled mappers. If you would like to apply, then email me at ThrawnsRevenge@gmail.com .
S'all for now,

Yellow people. This is the first of the weekly updates that we will be doing almost every Saturday this year. These updates won't be quite as big as the monthly ones in 2007, but over the month there'll be about the same amount of content.
Some of you may have noticed the recent update to the site. This has been in the works for a while now, and so far has resulted in the addition of a staff page, a render gallery, a screenshot gallery and a planet layout gallery. The factions page, which you can get to through the information page will be updated with links to pages with faction descriptions, unit lists and some other information as we complete them. We would also like to welcome Satan's Spartan and Enceladus to the team as mappers.
This week we have two new planet layouts for you. Nkllon, which was mapped by Chaosredsock and will be in Release Two and Thyferra which was mapped by Enceladus.

Yellow people and welcome to the third (and final) January update.
First I'd like to welcome Junot to the team as a tester. He will be the final addition to the Testing Team before we reach beta stage, so you still have time to get in your applications if you haven't.
Dr. Nick has been and will continue to be working on improving the weapon and explosion effects in the mod with the assistance of myself. This includes new projectile particles, explosion particles, and several other things. The two of us will also be focusing on improving the stuff already ingame that needs it, while the rest of the team focuses on getting the new stuff else in.
This week we'll be showing the five levels of the Empire of the Hand space stations. the concepts were made by Fuzzy Wazzy, the models by me and the skins by Nezill.

Thats all for this week, next Saturday is renders of some Rebel ships.

Sorry for the late update (again).
First we'd like to welcome Ages of Star Wars to the site. They replaced GU as our site buddy seeing as it is lead by our Modeller/Skinner/Animator Dr. Nick and our Skinner Kalo, as well as having Enceladus, Daft, and myself on their team, so we mix together pretty well.
Now, the renders. These are both some mid-level Rebellion units... The first is the Alderaanian War Frigate and the second is the Nebulon-B2 Escort Frigate. We decided to go witha different kind of layout for these, so tell us what you think.

Thats all for this week, next week is some ingame screens of EotH units and Endor.,

I like the Nebulon B-2 a lot.
Great work!

First thing, we really need more mappers to help me and Enceladus map the planets and skirmish maps for all releases. If you have experience with the map editor, apply here or email me at Thrawn's Revenge@gmail.com with examples of your work. Land maps are preferable.
Some more stuff from Fall of the Republic this week.

We've also prepared a bit of Q/A for this update. Yes, we got this idea from AoSW a week or so ago, but since the AoSW staff and ThrRev staff have pretty much the same people on it, we'll all live.
Q: How many planets are in the mod
A: Release One has 64 planets, including several from the original game, however almost every planet has been remapped, with the exception of Bespin. The maps are now much bigger. By the final release, there will be roughly 170 planets in the mod.
Q: What is this Admiral's Lounge you mention in some updates?
A: The Admiral's Lounge is a section on our forums for active posters. It contains lots of unreleased information, renders, unit lists, etc.
Q: When are you releasing?
This is an example of something you'd find in the Admiral's Lounge.
Q: What will the population cap be in the mod?
A: 85 for space, 20 for land.
Q: Will the Yuuzhan Vong and Hapes Consortium ever be playable factions?
A: Stay tuned.
Q: How many mod team members are there?
A: There are currently 10 people on the development team, and 3 people on the testing team.
Q: Can I be a tester?
A: You can apply at ThrawnsRevenge@gmail.com, or on our forums.
What criteria do you use when deciding what units/heroes to include/exclude from the mod?
1. Would it be useful?
2. Is it unrealistically powerful/large/unbalanced?
3. Could we accurately represent it ingame?
4. How canon is it?
Q: Can i suggest a unit/hero for the mod, or have you already decided on all the content?
A: We've already written up unit lists, but these are never completely final, so if you have any suggestions we'd love to hear them, just don't be insulted if they don't make it in.
Q: Are you going to be adding in more music and VO's?
A: Yes. For example, the Fall of the Republic minimod we released had new VOs for Grievous. We currently need some people to help do the VOs for units and heroes, so if you'd like to try out for that email me at ThrawnsRevenge@gmail.com
Are ships going to be realistically scaled?
For the most part. They won't be 100% realistic, but they're be as close as we can get them unless they take away from the gameplay.
Thats all for this week. March First is layouts of Umika and Millayna.

In terms of news, this update will have a lot more than previous updates. The first bit is that we will no longer be doing weekly updates. There are 2 main reasons for this. the first is we have to get the renders of everything done, and I have to write them. One update every month is fairly simple to do, even if you have virtually no time, but five can get hectic. The second is they contained no actual information, and were therefore pointless.
We would also like to welcome Ahdanakh to the team. He joined the team about a week ago, and fills the previously empty composer position. This means that each faction will have it's own set of songs for everything from the galactic map to battles, as well as each release having it's own theme song for the menu screen.
In community news, we have created a skype chat room for our forum members to talk in real time with other members and the team at the urging of some members of the forums. This is in no way compulsory, but it's there for anyone that wants to use it. For more information, register on our forums and check the topic in the member's only forum entitled Community Chat Thingy. This is an especially good thing for anyone who wants to be a beta tester.
As for actual development news, as many of you already know, Dr. Nick is (still) working on improving the graphical effects in the game, such as turbolasers, skydomes (or rather, spacedomes), explosions, etc. Qui0Jinn, Enceladus and to a lesser extent, myself, are also very close to completion of the land maps for Thrawn's Revenge: Empire of the Hand. At this point, I believe there are somewhere around eight or nine left. Fuzzy.Wazzy is currently working to finish off the concepts for the Empire of the Hand building and land unit sets. I am currently working mainly on a weapon retooling project, basically meaning I'm redoing almost every space weapon and hardpoint in the game to be a bit more canon. For example, we now have single, dual, quad and octuple turbolasers, ranging from Medium to Heavy. We will probably be releasing a chart for each faction, detailing which ships will have what to the Admiral's Lounge soon.
This month, we have the LAAT, modelled by Dr. Nick, as well as Commenor and Kuat, both of which were mapped by Qui0Jinn. As usual, closer shots of both maps can be found in the Member's Only forum.

That's all for now, may have another April update, but then again we may not. Beta testers will be chosen soon.

In addition to this, space units and heroes are more or less finished. The only incomplete things in this area are Lando Calrissian's Lady Luck, the Hand of Judgement's Gillia, and three Empire of the Hand ships that require skins.

There are also more screenshots on the website. (Click Here)
In team news, we'd first like to welcome RedCommodore back to the team. He was one of the original members of the mod as a mapper, modeler and coder, so some of our older fans may remember him, and he is now returning to do the odd bit of work, and in time to allow me to use a relevant book title in an update. We'd also like to welcome Ca3ba to the team as a tester. He was hired partly due to two reviews he wrote, one for each minimod. If you have not read them, then they can be found here for the Fall of the Republic Minimod and here for the Galactic Civil War v2 Minimod. We've still got room for one more tester, and one more mapper who is able to make high quality land and space maps for skirmish and Galactic Conquest using the EaW:FoC map editor. To apply for the tester position, email ThrawnsRevenge@gmail.com explaining why we should hire you, and email the same address for the mapping position with examples of your work. For anyone who's already applied for the testing position, don't worry. This doesn't mean you won't be accepted.
That's all for this month, I can almost guarantee that the next update will be on either June 7th or 8th.

In team news. First, I'd like to welcome Mr. Hobo to the team as a coder. He will mainly be focusing on the Galactic Conquest scenarios, though he will also be doing some units and heroes. Two more team members from yesteryear have also returned, Nezill and InsaneGolfer. For those who do not remember them, Nezill is a skinner, and InsaneGolfer is a coder. Both had to take LOAs last year due to school.

Planet models from Sci-Fi Meshes, Thrawn's Revenge Venator, Munificent and Tri-Fighter by Dr. Nick.
The unit lists for all three factions in Empire of the Hand have also been moved from the Admiral's Lounge into the Member forum. I'm, working on making faction pages on the website,m which will hopefully have complete unit lists with armaments, fighter complements, etcetera for R1 by July. The unit list for Imperial Civil War will soon take its place in the Admiral's Lounge.
Nezill has made another signature for the forum users:

It can also be found with the other signatures and wallpapers on the media page.

Site updates, renders, unit lists and some other stuff.
As some of you may have noticed the site's mod information section has recently been overhauled. We've made it a bit easier to find stuff, and given each release a page. These pages have planet lists and the logos of the factions in them, which link to their unit lists (currently only the first release has unit lists up, the later releases will get their lists as we get closer to them).
Empire of the Hand
Imperial Civil War
Fall of the Republic
We'd like to welcome Frost to the team. Some people may remember him from the Venatorand Munificent models he's made for us.
There's also a new render layout. This one is basically the same as the one used by Petroglyph for Forces of Corruption, only it's blue and has some other minor changes.

In actual development news, Empire of the Hand is steadily approaching completion. After it's done we'll be spending about a month for thorough internal testing it so we can catch as much as possible before the full public release, which at this point looks to be around October/November unless something really bad happens, but no guarantees.
And finally, some new sigs Dr. Nick made for your use. The background are transparant, so they'll work on any forum:

Progress on Empire of the Hand (As in the release) has come a long way over the last few months. All space units are done, and all land units are either done or very close to it. In the mapping department all that remains is the Coruscant map, and redoing a few maps of other planets that we weren't happy with. Most of the remaining coding is the completion of the remaining 6 Galactic Conquest scenarios, as well as a few land vehicles and buildings for the Empire of the Hand (As in the faction). There is no more modeling left to be done for Empire of the Hand (as in the release) and that department has shifted production to later releases.
(Click on the images to see them full-sized)

And we have the finalized splash screen for the first release. Dr. Nick made the terrain in terragen, and models were rendered in max then photoshopped in, this isn't a screenshot.

We're still looking for one more mapper, and one more skinner, so email ThrawnsRevenge@gmail.com if you're interested.
