Surprised this hasn't been posted already.

Hmm... Well, so far it seems like Mytheon. We know it's there, we just can't see it yet.
Unless that is a Battlefield 3 screenshot, which I hope not.

Hopefully it'll be more Battlefield 2, and less Bad Company. Battlefield 2 and 2142 are the best in the franchise if you ask me.

Bad Company had a solid campaign. The AI was made of failsticks however, as there was in no way that you could hide, stealth or in any way be undetected by them. When driving tanks they could see me from the other side of the map, through the fog, and past buildings. Nevertheless, a solid campaign. Being able to blow up structures was amazing, and most of the time I just walked around using the russian artillery remote. (Also, sadly Bad Company is the only game I've played so far, that does not give you the achievements for the easier campaign modes, if you complete it on the hardest setting. But that aside :p)

Multiplayer was sub-par if you ask me. It lacked the teamwork potential Battlefield 2, or 2142 for that matter, had. It lacked interesting unlocks. And I generally feel like there was no way you could know someone was going to kill you - though you could say this is realism - but most of the time I got killed by something not even on my screen, and without receiving any warning of a fight (E.g bullets flying in my direction). And no, they were not all snipers all the time. :p That said, Multiplayer was enjoyable. Though a lot worse compared to it's predecessors, if you ask me.

Another one? They should just call it Battlefield: Wake Island since they love wake island so much.

Anyway I know that this has been said again and again to the point of irritation but I'm tired of modern/futuristic shooters.

So my hopes are that one day they will announce Battlefield 1492.  ^_^

I really liked Battlefied 2, so here's hoping this will surpass that for me. I also played BF 2142's demo, it wasn't bad but I prefer BF 2.

Battlefield 'Nam was my favourite. (Once you mod the bastard a bit like I did). 2 was decent, I still give it a shot every now and then.

Funny, I always could figure out where the enemy was shooting me from in Bad Company. I really enjoyed, though, ambushing snipers on one map... they love that house for some reason, so I'd flank it, come through a fench and in through the back door.

Well. I did not do that much multiplayer in it, as I frankly found it rather boring quickly on my own.
I did it a few times with Piglet, and we had some serious trouble keeping together. A thing that is easily done in Battlefield 2 and 2142.

That said, I found it more chaotic than it's predecessors, and not in a good way. I did very much enjoy blowing everything up though. Nevertheless, Battlefield 2 and 2142 are much better, imo.

I don't get why they got rid of the old squad and commander system. That seriously worked really well.

Hmm... tells me you really didn't give it that much of a chance. I, personally, found it really fun, and usually ended up in fireteams that really did work together, with me usually finding a spot to hide out in, pulling fire support duties while my FT spawned on me and moved to secure the target. One battle the guy playing medic really helped out, as we were dropping like flies while he ressurected us. Heck of a fire fight that time.

That is true. Sometimes you could have really kick-ass squads.
What they need is servers that only allow people with headsets to join, cuz it always sucks to be stuck in a squad where only you have a headset.

New trailer, has a very Terminator-ish fibe to it if you ask me xD Yes, I know it is suposed to be the theme of the original battlefield, only very, very, very crude.

I want it though.

You must be the only one then ^_^

Must be the mods. I barely played Vietnam at all and I played both 1942 and 2 to death.

Yeah, I liked that.

I suppose they figured it was one more way to dumb it down, which is everything these days.

And yeah... that's definitely just like Terminator. You're expecting DOO DOO DOOOOOOO... DOO DOO DOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... any second but it never comes :(

I really hope they don't **** with Battlefield. I really liked that and I wish it had more customization and whatnot.

What worries me is that it's being released on console  . The chances of it having bullet drop and other proper mechanics seem almost nil.

"Battlefield 3 is the true successor to Battlefield 2. Beyond our signature multiplayer, we have also included a full single-player campaign and a co-op campaign – all straight out of the box. As for fan favorite features, how does the return of jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer (on PC) sound? All this built with our powerful new game engine Frostbite 2, which you'll hear and see a lot of in the months leading up to launch. For the full reveal on Battlefield 3, stay tuned for links to our cover stories hitting the gaming press throughout February, starting with Game Informer right now."

As reported on the BF 3 website.

i think this might be true to the franchise. Besides, ammo-drop was never a part of the franchise. All you ever got ammo from in BF1942 was ammo crates. They came with ammo packs that could be dropped in BF2.

I would love to hear the full track with this new theme!

True successor to BF2 is what I'd want to see. Battlefield 2 is still (one of) my favorite shooter(s) that I ever played.
