best in the franchise still is 1942, followed by 2142 though.

Awesome that in the teaser, it realyl just is a teaser for the jets (aircraft) making a comeback. How it says: 5 seconds, and 5 seconds later there is this eurofighter (atleast I think it is) shooting up a helo with them saying: OH ^@!$!.

I really still want a proper sequel to BF1942. One that adds loads of customization etc. and also lots of more obscure weapons/vehicles/etc. from WWII.

WWII is just about perfect for games really, which is probably why it's overdone. Things were just advanced enough but just primitive enough to be balanced. Propeller planes in BF1942 were great but jets in BF2 were a bit too fast to work that well a lot of the time.

Well, that's probably why 2142 was sweet, undiscovered tech so you can tweak it the way you want. :) ...that and drop pods were genius.

Battlefield 2142 was great but I never had the amount of gametime or fun it in as I did with Battlefield 2. I played that game for eons.

I did really like the theme, setting it had though. But the Titans were a little silly. Nevertheless, it was definitely a good game that deserves a sequel.

3142 or 2143. Let's keep the 42 in there shall we, unless it is a direct sequel >.>

No. We want the huge leap in time. That way we can have micro soldiers who go into mechs which then go into bigger maps and then fuse and become a planetsized mech..and then you can drop pod out of it and the drop pod can fly....and teleport if you unlock that.

Agreed.

Titans aside, I loved the sci-fi designs of BF2142, probably more so than the sci-fi designs of most sci-fi games (including Mass Effect, Halo, C&C, Starcraft, WH40K...). BF2142 was a game where I, who typically dislikes mech designs, actually liked the mech designs there for instance. Of course there's the outliers (like that Japanese neko-tank) which I didn't like design-wise, but I definitely loved most of them.

One funny and interesting thing about BF2142 is that it was actually how I discovered caramelldansen, as I somehow ended up clicking a youtube vid of the PAC mech stuck in a walk anim loop with caramelldansen playing.

Yeah, 64 player Karkand was good for an infantry battle ^_^

The first image that enters my mind when I think of Karkand is the PKM. I used to love that map for Support, just going prone and shooting in the enemy's general direction down a road.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about Karkand is lying under the train crash with a sniper rifle, picking off tens of enemies on the other side. 64 and 32 Karkand were amazing.

Infantry battles were a lot of fun, but when they weren't infantry-only being an Engineer with those anti-tank mines could be a lot of fun too. ^^

Definitely my favorite map either way. Action was around every corner and yet it never felt too chaotic. Sure bombarding the crap out of enemies in a Jet or firing a missile barrage at them in a Helicopter is still one of my favorite things about Battlefield, but just nothing could stand against the amazing Infantry matches on Karkand.

%@$!. Yeah!

The first thing I think about is being a medic in one of the narrow alleys and just racking up points by reviving team mates getting grenaded over and over and over. :D

Oh ya, I remember that, that was a great place too.

Then that little island place to the east of it was like a whole different map in itself...

Heheh... that was great too. In fact, I'd forgotten how fun Medic was in BF2. Shocking people back to life was very satisfying :D

Medic was so easy to get points with, especially on Karkand. People dying every second. :P
And that L85A1 (Or the H&K G36-E if you had Special Forces) was a great weapon.

Also loved, on the 64 part of Karkand, those two new warehouse/factories that you could climb onto. Ahh, Karkand. You had so many lovely places to hide.
People can say what they want, but they haven't truly been sniping in a game if they haven't done that!

Why oh why do games involving modern-day warfare like to do that whole video noise graphic thing in their trailers? It's annoying. It's like modern combat has become synonymous with footage that cut in and out with lots of VHS noise.

Here look:

This is a montage of all modern warfare game trailers. Especially the FPS ones.
Spoiler

Call me old-school but I prefer the older trailers that have a more cinematic and immersive feel, not something trying to emulate the whole Cloverfield-esque shakycam filming style.

But.. but... COD did it so it must be good!

Anyway, they're selling an "Expansion Pack" at launch!?

Jesus ****ing Christ... I swear, if I'd been born 10-15 years later I wouldn't even have bothered with games... I wouldn't have the patience or desperation to deal with its recent avalanche of bull****.

Maybe I'd have become a musician ^_^
