I tend to do that when I use a computer a lot... at least I did that with XP a lot. Every 6 months or so. It wasn't that there was anything wrong with the computer, either... I just have a bit of OCD about everything being super-clean on my computer. If I've installed and uninstalled anything, I feel like I need a reformat. It's a bit silly, now that I think about it...

Actually, a lot of programs never truly uninstall, always keeping stuff in the registry and elsewhere. This eventually clogs up the system in various ways, so I think a good 6 month refresh is a good idea, OCD or not :).

If you want the version that isn't 15+ pages, here it is:  Get Windows 7.

Seriously, the Xbox is not that bad. And what does that even have to do with Windows 7 besides being made by the same company?

How's that? The only link right now is that they can both be used as a way to play games, and that they're made by the same company. Anything I'm missing?

No in all honesty, xbox is not a bad system, arguably better than PS3 according to some. Is there any particular reason you are hating xbox? Why blame Windows 7? What OS are you planning to use? Mac? Linux? Those certainly don't have very many games.

Precisely, precisely. That's exactly why I agreed with Berek on the benefits of upgrading to Windows 7.

I reckon it's simply sheer disgust with how MS devoted all their attention to the Xbox and how big a farce DX10 and Games for Windows is, especially when considering that they promised more gaming support for the PC when Vista came out.

Kelathin, Hissingnewt isn't hating on xbox, he has an xbox, so why are you quoting him and asking him "Is there any particular reason you are hating xbox?", when he doesn't hate xbox, its venture who hates xbox.

Bird of Prey knows his stuff, so he doesn't live in a black and white world. You on the other hand simply need to lay off the unnecessary xbox bashing.

Maybe because Xbox makes more profit than PC games for MS? Either way, I agree that MS should do more.

Alot of his bashing isn't without merit.

It's hard to make money in the world of PC gaming when you're not publishing any PC games, imagine that.
On a somewhat related note - Mechwarrior, Close Combat, Age of Empires and Flight Simulator sure weren't profitable. At all.

Age of Empires? I heard of that game, once, saw it in a bargain bin right after release. I heard it tanked. Hard.

:p

Oh and Gorays, relax ;)

I am relaxed(it was 6 A.M when I wrote that), hope I didn't sound harsh, Venture. :p I know my tone wasn't freindly when I wrote that. >_<

As for Windows 7 itself, I will get it when I decide to buy a new pc, my laptop is very outdated.

I like to think of MS as the Fox Studios of the game world, they cancel all of the projects people might actually be inrterested in.   Case in point, they closed down the Mechwarrior 4 servers and stopped patching the game when MW4 was still a fairly popular, often played game.  Clearly a foolish mistake when the fan run servers get a fair use and fans still mod that game.  I do have a general distaste for Microsoft Game studios over killing good franchises, and also over the whole half-assed Games For Windows live thing which had real potential, and I am greatly annoyed that half of the really good titles are XBox exclusive (actually I am more annoyed that I don't know IF they are good because of the exclusivity).

The thing to remember here though is that MS Games Studios is a different division than the one that makes the other programs.  After the Vista debacle, they decided they would make sure drivers worked before releasing Win 7, and they put some time into development and testing, so things have gone more smoothly, and Win 7 is more stable and doesn't break on half the systems out there.
