Hello , we meet again

Just realized about it , EoN , were surprised that is looks unique but it has some  of that special taste of course , will see that , but i am specifically interested in gameplay and of course the game as a game , i mean , i am seeking some skirmish , modding , etc... if possible.

Will this be some special game , that will offer MMO features on a RTS , that would be so awesome...

The multiplayer would be MMO-tied , but i feel this game can do wonders on SP , it looks great and i think there was dedicated effort behind it.

If this game breakes the ridicolous "online-only" requirement , it can be , the best games out there , MMO+RTS kind of , just think about it... atleast supporting cornerstones ("skirmish" mode is something westwood actually created afaik , atleast in games)

People say unlikely but if it has modding or some SP mode on the train right away , but im just not a mmo guy , that doesn't mean the game is bad , not at all.

Anyways , taken some time off the playing so much , but i was pulled recently in this E3 spam and all , and even talks about duke nukem forever , oh atleast the lawsuit is settled , .. until i saw petroglyph ... impressive.

I see piglet still going with the conspiracies , believe me , know all about it , im sure half of the world does ,  but come on , i keep it low , i don't want to waste ever day of my live talking about it and certainly have other things to care about , more i think about it more i become worried , and with that , I lose interest to even live or to do basic things , sounds scarry , i don't want to feel like that at all. :ballchain:  < But I broke the chain thankfully :)

Also I see Berek doing good job around here , keep it going. ;)

I just can not make sense of it. Sorry.
It's illogical to say that a Mac is better than a PC, because a Mac itself is a PC.

Westwood was not the first developer to add skirmish. Skirmish isn't in Dune 2, right? But it is in WarCraft, and WarCraft as the RTS after Dune 2.

Spoiler

Ya, I'm glad where End of Nations is going as well and can't wait to try some form of Beta or 30 day trial modes. With it's pay to play I hope they release some pre-paid cards to play them so others can join in on the fun.

I doubt modding is possible as it is an MMO. You might have some luck with player created unit contests or by constantly harassing the developers themselves to add something into it. Rally up like minded people and something might happen.

Yeah TD had no skirmish, only multiplayer.

GUI modding maybe, but I doubt PG would go for it unless they really want to do it like Blizzard did for WoW.

Also don't even joke about harassing the devs. That's crossing the line.

Everything else, nope.

I was under the impression that "skirmish" simply meant a fair game that wasn't part of the campaign, multiplayer or otherwise.

As for modding... it shouldn't be too long before that holographic general finds himself in a nude patch :P

Archon's in his Visual Studio.  All's right with the world.

I always thought it meant the offline gameplay mode of player vs AI. I never see the word skirmish mentioned in multiplayer frankly, it's always called online mode or multiplayer mode.

I think I must have been mistaken.  I looked at all the RTS games I have installed, and while only a couple of them use the word "skirmish", it's always used for single-player only.

tbh I wouldn't mind if the term "skirmish" could be extended to including multiplayer as well. I'd like it if the term could be used to describe the gameplay mode where players are eliminated when they lose their bases. This would help distinguish it from other gameplay modes.

The EoN site has E3 pics now

Still hate the tiltwing transport. The whole 'cockpit tilting backwards' thing when it opens is kind of weird too. I like the gray colour scheme though.

Posted Image
One of the biggest visual improvements after UAW has to be the dynamic lighting. Guess Fish wasn't kidding about saying they resolved UAW's dynamic lighting issues.

Posted Image
Combat aircraft at last! Wish the fire had more smoke though.

Of course since it is the official site, it has the least amount of screenshots (typically the game journalism sites get more).

IGN has tons more from E3

Comanches with stub wings~

^ That funny fx there is a UAW water splash particle texture, billboarded to always face the camera. The pic below shows a stream of the particles from various camera angles
Posted Image
If that gun were firing and you'd rotate the camera, you'd see a major perspective issue like the one with Mickey Mouse's ears always appearing as black circles regardless of the direction of his head, which would violate perspective laws unless his ears were spherical.

I recognize that selection pattern! It's type #1 from my comprehensive study last year:

Looking at these screenshots, it hit me how good this game actually looks.  Individual unit designs aside (as that discussion has already happened), I'm very impressed with the lighting, the textures, the fire... it seems like it'd be visually very pleasant to play.

Yeah it's SupCom. previous pics also showed an earlier selection decal
Posted Image

You also know what this means? Your units are going to be so expendable they won't even have healthbars visible! I guess in the MMO context, sending out a tank here is like casting a spell or taking a swipe at the enemy with your Sword, not so much the Sword itself.

Unit textures seem to be improving yeah (the EoN website's armoury section has newer textures on the renders). I just wish they'd get rid of those red viewports. It's particularly silly on the Humvee thing whose windows are pure red.
Posted Image
Even the UAW Humvee whose windows were pure black looked better.

I have a theory though, that it's WiP, and that the red is supposed to represent a yet to be implemented spec/reflection map. No way could that pure red possibly be official, the art department wouldn't let it slide.

I have a better theory, it's a whorevee and it has it's own little red light district.

Oh that's easy, you just have to push the envelope. I've modded countless particle fx improvements for UAW using purely the original resources in the game and the particle editor without any new, original material.

Damn, these new screenshots are a HUGE improvement over the initial pics we've seen. Give those artists a raise!

And a high five while you're at it

I think the colored windshields are team color, tbh. You can see the bright green on the transport in the first pic.
