Got to love the extended Universe.
...And this is why I only like The Old Republic era BioWare/LucasArts have created.

Wasn't trying to start a debate. I think most people can quite easily agree on this.
I simply found it an article worth reading. Made me laugh a little too!

Anyway, if they're going to bring the Vong into a list like this, i would have thought that having three different species from the same distant galaxy just happening across the Star Wars galaxy should get a mention.

Yep, throwing in a Jedi character that allegedly did a bunch of $**t between Episodes III and IV like pulling down Star Destroyers and laying waste to entire capital ships, was Darth Vader's super-secret apprentice, and could beat both Vader and Palpatine single-handedly?
F**k you, LucasArts.

But yeah the expanded universe guys love to mess around with the Force and make it out to be some awesome superpower that can pretty much do anything. Before Starkiller, there was Kyp Durron yanking a starship out of Yavin using the Force

It's just crap nowadays. All these extra superpowered characters only serve to make the genuinely interesting ones look weak by comparison. The Emperor looked amazing the first time you saw him do the Lightning thing on Luke, as was the battle against Yoda on Coruscant. And Darth Maul for example, and Obi Wan Kenobi, etc. But the most important part of it all is that they weren't much stronger than Luke was in Return of the Jedi. They weren't some Neo/Agent Smith characters that could do anything.
Then along comes Starkiller and the writers make an effort to say that he's better than all these other characters? They make him battle them all through a droid and, "Oh wow, he's so awesome"?
It's like a serious case of poorly-developed fan fiction, where the author injects his own author-created characters into the story and changes the focus from the real main characters, to how-the-universe-revolves-around-these-new-guys.

See, if TFU had Bioware's writers instead, Starkiller would have more emotional development. He'd romance the droid and then they'd have sex.

Long as he's not trash compacting AT-STs and other things with the Force on a ridiculous level. Restrict it to the stuff in Knights of the Old Republic? I can handle that.

6. Emperor cloned:
- Everybody loves cloning themselves but they shouldn't be able to be an exact replica personality wise. Must of went through training....And ya, I can see how that would ruin the trilogy. Must of costed the Empire an arm and leg to reproduce the exact situation to give the clones the required personality. I can't see Palpi' body switching...anything is possible with the force I guess.
5. There’s No Light Or Dark Side To The Force:
- Really? Seeing the good vs bad made Star Wars Star Wars. But seeing it have a neutral zone was also somewhat interesting. This is the only one that I can say works with EU. Well, at least a little?
4. Luke Was Never The Last Of The Jedi:
- All of Luke's hard training and maturing was for naught? I'm pretty sure the Republic-turning-Empire would of found every last pocket of surviving Jedi's....even those that....uh...mated over the years
3. The Force Does Not Tie All Life Together:
- Probably *shrugs*.
2. Luke Turns to the Dark Side:
- Point taken. Silly Luke! Undid all your maturity as a Master Jedi?
1. Darth Maul Is Reborn With Robot Legs:
- Um.....How about a revival as a murderous ghost that haunts Leia's dreams?
----
Anyways....

Oh wow, that's pretty gay. That's like, High School Musical in a Star Wars setting.
Notice the one dance that everyone seemed to like was Chewbacca dancing.

I only liked the Darth Vader one...if I was blind...because then it'd just be Enter Sandman....

On the other hand some are complete crap, anything to do with the Yuuzhan Vong I absolutely detest. And yes I did read the whole thing, all +20 books of them.
I devoured nearly all of the EU in novel form when I was a teenager, there were some good but most were just plain bad. Or at least if they were well written they were complete garbage as far as contributing to the SW universe. Though in some ways you can't really blame the writers of the classic trilogy's EU, concerning continuity anyway. I believe most of it was accepted as canon before the prequels came out. And Lucas just completely ignored all of the EU when he made the prequels and the prequels made the classic trilogy's EU look utterly ridiculous.
The prequel novels on the whole are a lot better actually. Most of them are about the Clone Wars set between II and III and they're not half bad. BUT then that cartoon came along and ruined it, even though it was slightly cool, (I think the art style is ridiculous) they through everything out the window that all of these writers had spent years editing and re-writing. Not only that but much of the SW takes the cartoon as canon over the novels! Not much of a surprise since most SW fans on the nets are under the age of 16 but even so.... And then the 3-D cartoon just joined in on the plunge....
Anyway the Vong and #4, all of the surviving Jedi, are my biggest problems with the EU. The Vong are just stupid, though it was an interesting story. #4 just ruins the whole idea, the whole story.
