multiplayer issue

i started it on both pcs. i made sure that they have the vista patch. (both have the same version.) i have added it to the firewall exception list on both. i have tried both as hosts. it still doesnt work. please help me, i am out of ideas.

This has happened to me when there is a version mismatch between the 2 copies.  To test this, go online and check to see if you get a version mismatch when attempting to play.

If that is the case, do a reinstall and make sure nothing gets "left behind" after the uninstallation.

How can he check if its a version mismatch when the two PCs can't see each other? :P

I mean go ONLINE MULTIPLAYER and try, get off LAN where they are invisible to each other.  Both players (and their games) should be visible.  The only time it has ever happened to me, our game versions were not the same and it worked perfectly as soon as we resolved the issue.

Also keep in mind that (until Petroglyph releases their promised patch) Steam users and disc users can't play together yet.

i tried to reinstall forces of corruption from scratch on both without updating and it still doesnt work. the regular empire at war works perfectly though.
