Yes, the direction is new and many probably would say that this is not a “true” C&C, just as many did when the original Generals came out. For me, Command & Conquer isn’t just about Tiberium, Kane and the crazy Yuri. It’s been more about fun to play, engaging, and high quality RTS experiences. And that’s what we’re aiming to deliver, just in a different way.

tbh I'll actually have to agree, being one of those who felt Generals was more fun than the likes of Tiberian Sun or even the newer C&C titles. YR was probably the only other C&C I played that came remotely close to the entertainment I got from Generals.

Some people might say looking at C&C from the high level perspective of "RTS" is too vague and general (no pun intended) but I think these people need to remember that Renegade and Sole Survivor flew the C&C banner as well. If C&C is becoming a diluted brand I think it's just a matter of becoming more diluted than it already has been (as opposed to say, if C&C had stuck solely to just sequels of Tiberian Dawn).

Still ultimately that blog post is just typical company PR anyway. It's not anything too extraordinary.
