Or so they'd like to think. Because a country as tiny and insignificant as America - next to the sheer volume and expanse of space - is granted full ownership of its near infinite boundaries? Stuff em'.

Hooray for SOPA! Let's embrace the new era of CENSORSHIP that will be imposed on us all! After all, it's done in the name of stopping those evil pirates!

Not at all. Sure the public image makes them look self-absorbed and conceited at times, but I was under the general impression that when it comes to space, territorial factions would become irrelevant. It's no longer the United States of America when you're occupying planets. It's mankind. And it most certainly isn't US Government property.

 That was a good read, there's no way that guy is serious, it must of been a very deliberate trolling attempt. Hilarious none-the-less. Though I was surprised how clean the whole thing was. Back when those types of discussions were commonplace here they always got very nasty.

Still, we do have somewhat of a precedent where Israel seems to think it has jurisdiction to repossess people's ships and arrest/murder them in international waters.

So maybe it's not so surprising that such a thing could be extended to space :/

Oh wells. Since joining Twitter lately (@SeanSeanston BTW) I've noticed Graham Linehan (one of the writers of Father Ted and more recently The IT Crowd) doing a lot of informative tweets on these matters of internets privacy etc. I would recommend following him if you use the Twitter Machine.

Just started following WikiLeaks too.
I think Julian Assange is a pretty cool guy. eH does what he likes and doesn't give a **** what some ignorant thug in any government thinks, and doesn't afraid of anything.

I feel it's worth pointing out that there is very little chance the bill would actually stand up to the Supreme Court once it reached them if it were to pass. All it would take is somebody with standing suing over enforcement and it would move up pretty quickly. True, that would mean that it would have to be passed and damage would be done by it, but it wouldn't be a permanent danger to freedom of speech.

Frankly, people should be far more worried about private contracts between corporations to censor material voluntarily. That's the method UMG used to pull the Mega Upload video earlier this week. They have a private contract with Google that allows them to have videos pulled from Youtube. Nobody except for the two parties involved knows what's in that either. If more companies pursue private contracts to remove content it will be a lot harder to fight back against since it's secretive and usually legal (I have doubts that they can pull content they don't own through this method since that can violate laws about competition and they have no standing).

Real proper conspiracy stuff. Supporting both sides of the war like they're some kind of Adam Weishaupt :ninja:.

I wish JC Denton were real.

SOPA takes heavy casualties.

This seems to be an effective means of fighting SOPA, boycotting the companies that support it, eventually they'll lose enough money and switch sides, as Go Daddy just did.

I thought Go Daddy said they weren't against but not for it either...

In other words, they haven't switched sides they just now silently support the act... They have switched sides when they release a statement saying they are actively against it.

I am too against SOPA, SOPA would destroy our internet as we know it, btw i did read the SOPA bill at that tracking senate bills site  its pretty bad.

I am not surprised EA is supporting the SOPA they are greedy as they didnt even care much about the last command & conquer game they just trashed it.

I mean just look at the Sims 3 game more DLCs then The Sims 2 lol

I have a feeling that bioware would end up like good old westwood studios did under the hands OF EA GAMES, forgive me petroglyphgames for saying that but thats how i do feel about them.

I just hope i am wrong though.

EA is an evil-empire, it's a given. I requested they add Canadians into Battlefield 1942 and they kept banning all my accounts. First warnings, then they banned so I said "screw you too as well". They then swiftly started milking the whole thing with Vietnam, and all that crap. I find it a watered-down crap now (granted, the new BF looks interesting)....I miss 1942, all those fun times spent on vanilla side, Coreal Sea, El Alamein, and Desert Combat and all. Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 I found the best, and with the first Underground...the rest = garbage. Stick with the first and keep improving it, not downgrading the ^@!$ out of it ffs. What can you do? People were raised with the thought that money is everything and it still can't save them in the end.

*Read in a poking fun manner.*

At least Petro added a Canadian region in EON :P.

Glad that SOPA is being held back or else all hell would break loose on the streets, hopefully.

I'm afraid that won't happen anytime soon. Too many people are unaware of the indirect and even direct results of SOPA. Too many people react with, "Oh you're exagerrating" because they're not 'involved' with it. Y'know, the people who only use Google and now and then checkout Youtube.

Ya, I keep getting that kind of reply as well. People think it is only to stop piracy or consider it like one of those conspiracy theories that Bush blew up the Twin Towers on 9/11 crazy. I hate sheepable.

Yeah I doubt that many people would notice, or even care. I only care enough to follow the issue. Honestly though, I don't think I would care much if SOPA achieved victory. From what I understand, the ultimate end here (concerning gaming) is that a very few corporations would control the market, and get away with producing ****** games because they'd virtually have no competition, their games, being ******, are the only games around. Honestly I think this could be beneficial more me. I've spent too much of my life gaming anyway, I still do some extent. If the gaming industry suddenly became very ****** then it might provide a good motivation for me to drop the whole practice and spend my time doing more useful things. I sometimes regret that I didn't grow up on a farm or like my dad. i could've developed so many awesome skills growing up, but instead I squandered it wasting away in front of some sort of screen. My dad, growing up, had only a guitar as any means of entertainment and with nothing else to do he spent hours and hours every day for years just playing guitar and now even after many years he's still pretty good. Sometimes I wish I could grow up like that. Sometimes....

Our own intelligence that we don't want to use? Looking at everything that keeps trending on Twitter, the meme's, the sheepable at malls makes me look negatively on our whole population. We just don't want to use our brains, something that computers are having issues catching up to.

People insist in doing stupid harmful things to themselves.Thinking that its like the feeling you get when you keep scratching a mosquito bite - It feels good damn good but it hurts. Next thing you know you got a bloody spot on the affected area.
