Looks nice. Maybe this could be the break that the Alien franchise needs after some really craptastic movies.
So yes, I am looking forward to this.

THath's the thing, it's not really set in the Alien universe. It's stand-alone.
Ah, but you did notice two main things in that trailer, didn't you?
1. The Space Jockey telescope was briefly seen.
2. Those crashing spacecraft are the ones which house the Aliens found on LV-426 in the first two Alien movies.
I have no doubt this will be a stand-alone plot, but it's inexorably linked to their origin.

yeah sorry I missed the part where they said it was also to cover the Alien origins.
Yes i did notice the space jockey and all that shizzleferdizzle when I watched the trailer a week or so ago.

After the failure of the "The Thing" prequel I do hope that this can deliver.

There are people who say that it could be "stand alone" in the sense that Ridley Scott apparently did't care much for the post-Alien sequels, i.e Aliens, Alien 3, 4 and certainly not the two alien vs predator movies. He might view the first alien as the only connection.

I saw it a couple of months or so ago. I was disappointed. I went in not trying to expect too much from it due to all the bad stuff I had heard about it but I was still let down. It certainly isn't a worthy Alien prequel. Granted, there are elements of the movie which feel Alien-esque and there are numerous references to the original movie to be found here and there, at least if you're observant enough, but still... just no. It's not good enough.

Sequels are in the books as Ridley intended this to be a trilogy of sorts. I was a little dissapointed - mostly with the stuff that didn't make sense (useless characters, why a male-only medical facility is installed in a female's room, and why it's limited to only one sex, zombie crab guy etc) but for the most part I came to understand what Scott was upto after reading some message boards. I was like everyone else, angry, confused, sad, delusional, angry some more, but the whole point of Prometheus was meant to make people ask questions, instead of answering the ones everyone was expecting to be answered.
So now, the questions Prometheus proposed will be answered with the next string of movies. Probably. I'm interested.
