UAWEA: Abnormal exit fixed!

Hi,

To those of you who still haven't fixed the Abnormal Exit problem yet, I have a solution for you.

When I got this game a few weeks ago, I was dying to play this awesome game. But those abnormal exit errors were annoying me to the point where I wanted to scream!

I've tried disabling DX10 in the registry, in the game, setting my game resolution to match that of my computer, adding a No-CD fix, and patching, but they had no effect!

Finally, after 38 nerve racking AGE's, I stumbled upon the importance of Games for Windows-Live. At first, I didn't want to play online, but I soon knew how wrong I was after installing it.

I installed the GFWL client, signed into my live account, updated the game, rebooted the computer, and after that, not one single crash! I can finally play the game without those annoying errors!

But I am left wondering....did my game update to Patch 4 or upgrade to a completely new version?

Here are the steps I took to fix the game:

If Games of windows live isn't installed you can grab it from the Microsoft website.

Step1: Install Universe at War from scratch

Step2: Reboot and reinstall Universe at War

Step4: Once installed go into the game and immediately and I do mean immediately log into your live account

Step 5: Live should tell you there are updates for your game. Download them.

Step6: After downloading all updates exit Universe at War reboot and now you should be all set to play the game with minimal errors.

I also attached my DxDiag for reference. Hope it works for you like it does for me!

About step number 4, can I log in to my Live account first BEFORE starting the game?
