Also, all factions will be more diversed. There will be more cultural differences between the tribes, and different build-styles as well. Of course, this won't differ much because they pretty much all build alike in those days!

There will be more different types of units per faction. So fighting Germanic tribes will be different than fighting Gaul or Spanish tribes, unlike how it was in Rome.

Yessss.......... I actually think of all the TW games, Rome did faction diversity the best. Each sort of culture had vastly different playing styles, the European tribes were heavy infantry based, the Eastern Factions cavalry based, the Greek factions based on spear-toting hoplite formations, and Rome sort of all in one. M2TW had only a slight difference between Christian and Muslim factions. And Empire had none at all. Which is to be expected of course, since as time goes on fighting styles all tend to end up the same.

Yet this greater cultural diversity excites me. I liked in Rome: Barbarian Invasion that you could play as the nomadic barbarian tribes, and go without a single city or settlement. Fun stuff, hope to see that in Rome II.

This little gem is quite revealing.

Faction personalities, Legion reputations, more human AI. Yessss..... The major flaw of all total war games so far has been the lackluster AI. I hope CA pulls it off.

Will they stop making new awesome games!? That gameplay video looked intense!

And the mention of an improved AI is very welcome news indeed. After the seventeenth failed 3000-strong army is destroyed by a few hundred men inside a city, the AI became less than interesting in the first Rome.

The AI in Rome was indeed less than satisfactory. I once took out 5 (or more, can't remember anymore) platoons of cavalry with just one set of pikemen. I set them up in a tight choke in a Gaul village, and they just kept riding right into my spears.

The same thing happened to me in Barbarian Invasion, the Huns' entire horde (something like 10,000 people or something) collapsed onto a tiny outer village with only basic wooden palisades and a garrison of around 500 swordsmen, spears and cavalry archers to protect it. All three attacks the Huns launched were utterly destroyed, all because I blocked up the two main entrances to the plaza with swords and spears and rained fire arrows on their approach to soften up their morale. They didn't charge in, but walked in slowly and took the prolonged fire.

Come on guys, you can do better than that!
