Well anime is actually good quality cartoons or just outragiously funny. Most of them contain history while some of them are just meant for comedy. If you watched anime what you think of it (no bashing) and did you notice anything special that pops out?

Well I watched lots of anime and I saw that most of them contained lots of references to real life including history lessons. Fate/Stay Night and Ergo Proxy for example contain lots of references that the normal viewer would just blindly miss since they're only watching it. Ghost in the Shell also contains scientific research with college level or university level theories that would be puzzling to most average viewers.

Anyways if you want to make an anime list of what you watched i'll try and match it with what I seen  :p If you just want to ignore this thread then whatever floats your boat.

I've never seen an anime I liked, save for Azumanga Daioh. I think I just liked that because it had no corny plot about saving the world from giant foxes and ninjas and magic lasers. Those kinds of things just don't appeal to me.

Ghost In The Shell was excellent to say the least, espicially Stand Alone Complex and 2nd GiG.

the creators of the matrix even said that inspired them abit, you know, the overall look and all that.

Fate/Stay Night was awesome, though one thing that always got me, when Saber was having her flashback of when she was stabbed in the chest, her daughter said "father". It's just strange that they would continue to refer to her as male in those flashbacks.

Elfen Lied is an excellent anime which I would recommend, it's got a very high level of violence and gore, this cop is asking the main character where the bad guys are and she cuts his head off with psychic powers, lol.

Gundam Seed Stargazer was very good aswell, I like the whole "main characters DON'T pwn all" like in the other two series set in the cosmic era, plus they kill off alot of the main characters, poors shamz and mudie.

Gundam 0083 is very good, the main character doesn't pwn all like in the other gundam shows plus he fails to stop two big ass disasters, the first being one gundam nuking the earth federation fleet while it was having a naval review and when the delaz fleet dropped a colony onto america.

oh and any Final Fantasy fan should check out FF7: Last Order, it's very good with great animation quality and it's awesome seeing parts of the game animefied.

oh and 08th MS Team is very good aswell.

Elfen Lied is pretty awesome. FF-VII Last Order's cool too (and FF-VII AC, but that only half counts, lol). FMA, Eva, Rahxephon, Excel Saga, FMP, Samurai X/Rurouni Kenshin, Karas...good stuff...

I find the really "super emotinal" expression Anime gives is really cool, makes anime perfect to use in Comedy stuff since you can really exaggerate on the emotions and such

(edit: Whoa long post :/)
Gundam:
- Mobile Suit Gundam, G Gundam, Gundam 08th Team, War in the Pocket, Gundam Wing (Endless Waltz movie), MS Igloo, Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Destiny, Stargazer, Turn A Gundam, SD Gundam (For kids).

Those who know me know what they are and somewhat know why I like em. Mechs in all different shapes and sizes on multiple fronts. Better then tanks (in most cases) and more effective then planes, tanks, and ships. It always shows 2 and sometimes 3-4 sides fighting it out for the control of the earth and territory. MS Igloo I like since it shows the good side of the Zeon side and how it focused on how mobile suits were made and tested. Turn A Gundam focuses on the world after a major war happened and everything was nuked where everything was sent "back in time". 08th Team Gundam focused on a group of pilots on the Federation side and how they dealed with combat on their end. G Gundam is where one Gundam represents the country and whoever wins gets to control Earth (Cure for world wars). Well theres more and my review sucks but who cares since I said it in the first 2 lines. Also the names I listed above are the ones I watched.

To be fair the only thing I didn't like in the Gundam series was how Gundam Seed Destiny felt rushed from 40+ on. from 1-40 it was actually good but then the quality of the show dropped. I also didn't like SD Gundam and yes i'm aware its aimed at kids.

Fate/Stay Night:
Atmosphere was dark which I liked since it showed something different and something new. It was a hidden tournament and you had to be "gifted" or "chosen" to enter into this (or so it seems). 7 masters and servents fight each other to win the "Holy Grail" and you can wish for anything you desire. Quality Anime  :D Each servent was referenced to a real world character such as Saber, Gilgamesh, Beserker, and the "Fake" assassin. Since I had anime fever watching Fate/Stay Night I googled/wikied and searched everywhere for real world references to learn more  :D

Full metal Panic:
Fumoffu, Second Raid

With mechs and its series about a secret organization destroying terrorists around the world. It mainly focuses on this emotionless guy and a female character which knows way too much about a certain technology.
I actually liked this series from its secret organization point of view and its comedy factor.

ah man, how could I forget about Neon Genesis Evangelion.

that's still probably my fav, even though it's still a bit confusing and has alot of tie in's to religion.

the movie was awesome, when Asuka was ripping apart the Eva series and then getting stabbed in the head with a copy of the lance of longinous, ahm that was awesome.

yeah Neon Genesis was a great anime, as was Ghost in the shell.  I also like Bubblegum Crisis, I though that wasn't bad either, Cowbow Bebop too.  They're my 4 favourite but I like others but the only ones I've seen are the ones shown on Adult swim.

Tekkaman was the first anime I saw, I loved the storyline. I think in general japanese are better storytellers.

Gundam was okay for me

Demonbane was a little corny but had some good cthulu mythos

Mecha is my preference

Dragonball gets boring after a couple of episodes same with the super sentai

Fate was brilliant
DnAngel was amazing

Hellsing (set) - Classic, simply classic - Vampires

Black Lagoon (just #1 for the moment) - Psycho chick with guns... nuff said

Planents (boxed set) - A simple space anime about debris haulers...

Ronin Kenshin (OAV, three eps.) - He actually kills people...more blood than a normal human being should have....

I used to watch anime when I was like 12. I watched zoids, which was a bunch of giant robots in the shape of animals and dinosaurs. That was cool, but after a while I started getting bored of it, every episode ended in the same way. Then I noticed that nearly EVERY anime was like that, a group of young people with outrageous hairstlyes going on some endless quest. And they always have some special weapon or something that no one else has except for the bad guy which has an evil counter part of that weapon. And I have yet to see an anime that was funny. The humor is rather lame. But I have one question about anime in general. How come the people don't look like japanese people?

Probably the same reason Bugs Bunny and Roadrunner don't look like Americans.  :petroicon:

Although, there are actually some shows where many do look more Japanese in origin - Gantz, for example. But for the most part, it's all a style thing.

Evangelion and Elfen are favorites of mine; Ergo Proxy is the newest one I've been enjoying. Anyone ever seen Kino's Journey? It's nothing like your average flashy-lined-action-SSJ-boom-explosion-death show, but I really liked it because of that fact. Definitely among my favorites, check it out if you get the chance.

What! No one likes the famous Naruto?!
*bursts out crying*

(Do not watch the English Version of Naruto!!! It ruined the characters really badly.. that it aint funny. Just watch the Japanese with English sub-titles and you'll get it better. )

I also like Gundam Wing and Seed and forgotten the other mangas I liked.

I used to like InuYasha.

Naruto Shippuden, the second series of Naruto, is alot better than the first because it is darker.

although I wish the anime would hurry up, I wanna see Hidan get his head cut off and then start mouthing off, swearing at Asuma for cutting his head off then demanding that kakuzu stick his head back on his body.

also, I think people need to get their head out of their bums because not every anime is "group of teens with wild spikey hair do's go and save the world"

is Cowboy Bebop like that? no.

there are so many animes out there which isn't like that, and those generally tend to be the good ones.

and here's a list of them.

Samurai Champloo, Hellsing Ultimate, Macross Plus, Death Note, Ergo Proxy, Ghost In The Shell, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Claymore, Murder Princess, Full Metal Alchemist, Code Geass.

those are the types of anime people should atleast try and watch and not brand with an idiotic "it's anime, so it must be lame" logic

hell, has anyone seen the Devil May Cry anime? that kicks ass, so much blood and gore.
