Ah. I personally wouldn't pass it up just because of that; the artstyle makes the subversion more effective.

Been watching
To Aru Majutsu no Index. It has its flaws, doesn't get an overarching plot until the second season, and some of the arcs are weaker than others, but it's entertaining enough to keep my interest.
Also, can someone who's watched and enjoyed Bakemonogatari tell me what's good and bad about it? I've heard things about it that makes it sound like the kind of thing I'd really enjoy, but everything I see of it just doesn't click with me at all, including the first episode. I don't like judging shows based solely on their first episode, but I often find myself doing so unless I hear there's a twist somewhere early on, and the first episode was so ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
