Concept Art

Saucer Render
Word from the front lines:
"We spray them with machine gun rounds and then fix every hole in their armor. We launch a rocket into them and then those blue orbs appear to fix everything again! Then those orbs attach to our jets and helicopters and melt them slowly...It's hopeless..." - Helicopter Pilot
Weapons/Abilities:
Repair/Attack Mode Toggle (Active Toggle): Sets the Plasma Orbs to repair friendly air and ground units near the core, rather than attacking. This will immediately recall any attacking Plasma Orbs and then set them to repairing. Attacking Plasma Orbs are Red. Repairing Plasma Orbs are Blue.
Upgrades
Plasma Orb Longevity (Battlefield Upgrade): Plasma Orbs last longer away from the core unit.
Plasma Orb Independence (Researched Passive): Plasma Orbs will go after the nearest target once dispersed- they no longer have to return to the saucer before going after another target in-range.

Nice... I want to ride one of those.
Hope they don't start the random arguments about realism again.

As long as the plasma orb is actually a small hovering object which generates a plasma field (full of repair nanomachines in repair mode, and just plain hot in attack mode), I'm fine.

Hmmm, I wonder if you can destroy the orbs, or if you have to destroy the saucer. Also, it says "repair friendly air and ground units", I assume this means we have more air units, but I think this is the only one we have caught glimpses of.

a "Foo fighter" has been mentioned once or twice before, and I am sure there are others.

If you do some reading on early UFO reports from the 40s you'll find that the pilots nicknamed these strange balls of light they saw chasing and darting around their aircraft "foo fighters"...
Hmm... wonder if there's some kind of connection here...

It might work like the Protoss Carrier.
I like the design, it's modernized 50's-ish. The plasma orbs are pretty unique, but are these the same saucers that witnessed WWII and crashed in New Mexico shortly afterwards?

Thinking about the thrall units again- will the orbs also heal organic units/infantry? I assumed the orbs would only repair vehicles, but that was because we had only seen walkers until recently.

It has a very 50's Retro vibe, but is also uniquely modernized. I have some questions however.
When idle is the craft static, or does it rotate? If it rotates how quickly does it rotate?
When in motion does the craft rotate (a la Yuri's UFO in Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge)?
Is this craft capable of quick movements, often associated with UFO Sightings? I.E. pin-point turning, quick acceleration, zig-zag movement patterns, and ect.
