Cheating as in bots, 3rd party programs, cheat codes.

And using codes in games like GTA can actually make the game better.
But, cheating in online games shouldn't be allowed on any level.

In my opinion cheating ruins a game. I have cheated before to beat a game as well. An example Warcraft3, I got real far almost ending orc campain then I went and cheated, I felt terrible and even after I beated it by cheating I still felt like the game was never truely complete. After I knew the story and all I felt I didnt deserve to know it. I am ashamed for doing that.

Though I absolutely never use it online. EVER. That's just lame and ruins the game for everyone

Thank you Petroglyph for being here in the dark ages of RTS gaming! May your bright torch lead the way for other developers led astray. You make me happy as long as you stay alive, and I will dedicate my life to thee to make this dream come true!

Seriously though, I don't even cheat when I've beaten a game (used to do it a couple times though, but I found it quite boring). This is also the case with GTA San Andreas... You really don't need to cheat, even if you've beaten the game. If I want some fun after I've beaten the game, I'll start rampaging and fighting cops, steal a tank and do the vigilante missions while I'm at it. Or I enter a hydra, fly over a forbidden zone to get the cops after me and start a dogfight with other hydra's. When you cheat and won't have to fight to stay alive and dodge things, it takes away the fun in my opintion.

I agree on this. I hate those noobs on Diablo II and Runescape using bots, maphack and other conceived ways of becoming better at the game. It prevents increasing of skill and lack of skill. People always said you got maphack, we no donkey behind I didn't, I played enough to memorize the layouts of the maps and looked for key features to find and direct me.
I always hated when my sister cheated in Age of empires, I ended up loving rts cause I built skill up, she just went on and meh.

I highly agree with that online cheating is not good and it's for N00bs.
I know there's a lot of cheaters who just want to win all, but they don't understand that it's noobish. I own Call of Duty 2 and I've been playing it for a while. It has a online-gaming protection called PunkBuster. Some cheaters knows how to hack trought it and then they spoils the fun. I've seen them using "wallhacks", "aimbots" and "speedsimers". They are not fair players, they're no elites, they're just a noobish hacking cheaters.
PS. I don't cheat online. Only in SP after playing it.

Aliens versus Predator 2 was almost an anti-hack on its own... unless, of course, a n00b had invincibility
