indeed it would, i actually forgot i was training a few traders in paranid space when i decided to go capturing paranid ships... that hurt quite a bit!

Smooth. :P

I managed to get myself a Boreas! Been spending all my cash on pimping it out with some good stuff, still got a few unoccopied turret slots though.

And holy crap I hate those missile frigates!

M8's are quite deadly agains't anything bigger than themselves. Totally devestating in the hands of the player.

I've been playing Orcs Must Die 2 with a freind coop styley. Completed the story levels on War mage difficulty, although not all 5 skulled them. We both really still learning the game, what combination of traps work well with each other etc.

I've also been playing more Kerbal Space Program, Trying to get a base on the Mun, using a mod part "crew tank" which has space for 5 kerbals, i'm trying to land a large structure on the Mun that has 3 crew tanks in a 3 way shape, so that i can have up to 15 kerbals on the mun at the same time without having to leave them standing around on the surface lol.

Also using a Carts plugin, to build a rover and get it onto the mun, using more mods, the rover has a claw to grab things with (like parts that fell of other crafts) and a laser weapon to blow debris up.

I finished San Andreas a couple of days ago. What a huge "meh" of a game that was. There were many crucial aspects of it which plain sucked. I've mentioned some of them before, such as the gunplay and the missions. Another key aspect they failed pretty badly at was the player character, CJ. He is a complete wimp. He gets pushed over a lot and has a p*ssy voice. Really, GTA protagonists are supposed to be ruthless badass criminals, not wannabe gansta pushovers.

Speaking of the missions, there's more to that than I brought up last time. At a certain point in the game, you get to start using aircraft. Sounds fun, eh? Well it's not! It's a f*cking anger-fest trying to fly those bloody planes. Especially the flight training missions, which were so painfully hard I was forced to go to a GTA discussion forum and ask people there to play those missions for me. Thankfully the forum I went to had a specific subforum dedicated to this kind of thing, so all I had to do was to upload a save and tell them what missions to play, and they would do them for me. It wasn't just the training missions, there was a number of serious missions too which I had to get help with because they were too difficult.

It's not just the flight missions that are unfurating, many of the other ones are too. I don't know how they managed to make so many missions so aggravating to play, but they did.

Another annoying, although not quite as annoying part as the flight stuff was the driving school part they had in one of the cities. I'm pretty sure it was manditory to complete in order to finish the story especially seeing as there were a number of story-missions made available after its completion. I managed to complete a few of the driving school tests, but eventually I got stuck and had to have others finish the rest of it.

The vehicle handling is horrible. This is the reason flying is so difficult. But it's not just flying, driving cars can also be a pain in the ass. Bikes are easier. For a game were cars and driving is one of the main themes, this is a really bad thing.

The AI. Well, it sucks. That pretty much sums it up. For example, enemies often find themselves running away from you during firefights, like they are fleeing, instead of trying to kill you. Also, sometimes when you drive too close to the sidewalk, NPCs jump out in front of you while trying to get out of your path.

The ending was lame and underwhelming too.

So is there anything good about this game? Well, there are a few things. First and foremost, the different environments. All the three different cities have their own atmosphere, looks, style, feel, people, cars etc. Same thing with the countryside and the desert. This is the best aspect of the game. It breaks the monotony and gives you a different feel and experience when you travel through the different regions.

Also, the character interaction is alright methinks. It's pretty entertaining somehow. Although the story is weak.

The weather effects can be pretty nice sometimes.

Overall, the game fails pretty badly for being a GTA game. It gets a 4/10 from me. I would give it less if it wasn't for the few good things they managed to pull off.

Below average.

Back in the glory days of the PS2, San Andreas was the best thing that ever came out. And as far as memory's concerned, it keeps its title as a damn fine game of its time. But now? I try and play it and find myself hating it ever so much. You're right about the aircraft control, outright enraging, but it was simple in comparison with a playstation controller. When you look at the missions as a whole they're all the same thing - some tirade of antics that have you screaming through the streets chasing some nobody in a frustrating attempt to kill them, and half the time its not fun or challenging, just really annoying.

The game could only do what consoles were capable of at the time, so obviously trying to play it now on more advanced machines is just a waste of time. Saints Row 3 is everything you wish San Andreas was. One of the best things about it was the fact that the missions weren't wash and repeat chase sequences, or stupid twitchy missions that require reflexes and timing (no one has the time for perfect maneuvres these days), they're all quite fun, unique and challenging in their own way. Hurry up and play it!

I recently played and beat Manhunt 2 and Saints Row The Third.

Manhunt 2. Well, it sucked. It's nothing compared to the original. The story sucks, the characters suck, the music sucks (if you actually notice the music to begin with that is), the gameplay sucks (really, it's way too easy for a Manhunt game), it's glitchy, and overall it just plain sucks. I could probably dive into more and more details as to why it sucks but I can't think of them all right now. These are just the main things that come to mind right away. The only thing that it does ok are the execution "cutscenes" when you kill an enemy after having snuck up behind him. They are actually pretty nice and brutal, and some of them can satisfy your need for sadistic violence fairly well. But that doesn't help the fact that everything else about the game still sucks!

3/10

Saints Row The Third. So I finally played this game, thanks to Loony's strong recommendation. My initial impressions were actually kinda skeptical as I was playing the first couple of misssions (especially the first one). The game seemed way too light-hearted and humorous for me. Granted, humor is ok, as long as it's done in the right manner, but I had a bad feeling about the things I saw in the first mission. It seemed like in was gonna be the embarrassing and annoying type of stuff that I can't stand, the one that makes me roll my eyes. Pop culture humor. BUT after that the game grew on me, more and more. I realized it wasn't gonna be the embarrasing and annoying type, but actually rather funny. I really began to like the tone of the game and its sense of fun. Sure, it IS light-hearted, but is so in a good way.

The missions were quite varied and fun. None of this endless repetitive bullshit that you would do over and over again in SA. Here you got to many different things, and much of it was fun. Granted, there were a few missions which had me yelling in anger because they were annoying and difficult, but really, those were quite few in comparison to SA were it was like 80% of the game.

The graphics are pretty good. Or should I just say great? In some situations, you just stare at the screen and say man, this game looks really $@$!*(( good!.

Dunno what to say about the story. It was ok I guess. Not the best ever but certainly not the worst either.

Another thing I want to bring up are the characters. I think they pulled them off pretty well. They are interesting and entertaining and make for interesting interactions. And Killbane. Killbane. That name. Just gotta love that name and that character. Also the Deckers gang. Another name you gotta love. And what about the style of the Deckers and the Luchadores? Just plain gold.

Speaking of humor:
Spoiler

There are some cons with this game too. The most notable one that springs to mind is that you can't put your own music in it, so you are forced to listen to the stuff that are on the game's radio stations. However, by listening to the radio stations I found some new music I liked. If I had had my own music to listen to I would probably never have paid any attention to the radio stations and therefore may never have found those new tracks. Still though, I would like to be able to bring in my own stuff. Just a matter of principle I guess.

I'm not sure what rating to give it at this point, but I'll go with 7/10 or 8/10 for now. I'll have to think more about this.

Right now I'm back playing my Medieval II Total War campaign I started in January and stopped play some time in February I think.

Going well. Lots of **** flaring up though. Some factions that have been destroyed or rendered less of a major threat... and some that have become new threats. Always interesting.

I especially have to secure Jerusalem (which I need to hold as part of winning the campaign) from the Mongols (ZOMGWTFBBQ, and I haven't even seen them on the world map yet, just their ominous logo when they're taking their turn) and also the Crusade that was called on it by the Pope.... did I mention I got excommunicated (for something that like... totally wasn't my fault BTW ^_^) and had to invade Rome and kill the Pope? Well I did :ninja:

Yes, I won't make a massive post but I hated GTA:SA.

Funny you should mention the gunplay... that's one of things I thought were crap immediately when I played it. The noise of the guns sounded terrible somehow and... the entire feel of the game seemed off even though the controls were mostly the same.

I thought the UI looked amateurish too.

And the ****ing gang turf wars -_-. They were like the precursor to GTAIV's annoying phone calls.

I personally hated it on launch.

Well, maybe not hated... I did play it a reasonable amount and finished the story missions I think, but after the greatness that was Vice City, San Andreas just felt bland and boring.
Not to mention horribly tedious. It seems like the more I think of that game, the more unfun crap I remember, like just now I remembered the hunger system :(.
Then things like using a gym seemed like a great idea on paper but IMO played like poo.

Hahaha, knew you'd like Saints Row dude! I fell in love with it straight off the bat, and I didn't even have the slightest clue of what the game was actually about. I really enjoyed the light hearted, even crude humour and themes of it, it was a breath of fresh air from all these other serious games I had played in recent times. There was just so much to enjoy with this game and I found myself sinking in a huge amount of time with it, neglecting my partner in the process LOL

That first mission was epic to me, hell of a first impression! I laughed all throughout the game at the ludicrous things that would happen and was mesmerized by the insane action and fierce street battles, and the car chases were super enjoyable. I loved the characters and was taken right in by the story, and yeah, Killbane is just an awesome name for that behemoth of a man!

Yeah, I seem to remember stressing out with SA more than actually enjoying it. I think if you have more frustrating memories than fun ones, the game was likely a pile of ^@!$ :P

Been playing Darksiders and finished it. 27 hours later. Such a great game with a creative story, but I don't know about Darksiders II. The PC version is buggy as %@$!, and no graphics options in sight. Might have to wait til Vigil addresses this shoddy console port.

So in the meantime I'll happily settle for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. The AI is kicking my damn ass! 5th difficulty setting and I'm getting trumped everytime. I am compelled to beat this!

Swept through Battlefield Bad Company 2 a couple of weeks ago. It was nothing remarkable. The gameplay was ok I guess and the graphics were pretty good but the story pretty much sucked. Just another one in the line of "Typical american badass heroes go around kicking evil russian/whatever's ass". I don't like or need that kind of one-sided, pro-american, black and white, worn out garbage.

In other news I am now into Saints Row 2. Inspired by the joy I had with the third, I decided to check out its predecessor and it turns out it's pretty good too. It has humor, but it's not as over the top as it was in the third. It's a tad more serious, but not overly so. So far the missions are pretty good. The main downside is that the graphics are significantly worse compared to number 3, but that is to be expected.

Well, i moved house on the 1st, and only got the internet back a few days ago so i've been playing alot of off-line singleplayer games. Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 to name one of them. Also been playing more Kerbal space program, X3AP (Downloaded a npc bailing script before i moved, claiming M7's and M2s is fun!) and GTAIV. sorta been playing them in a rotation lol

RCT3, i've mostly just been rushing through the campaign maps really, not paying attention to athetics or money (well, enough to stay in profit) to complete the map. got about 5 left to go of the normal game, then i got the expansion maps to play.

KSP, not much to say about this at this time, mostly crashing stuff and failing to build any useful crafts.

X3AP, as i mentioned, with the NPC bailing script i've been claiming M7's and M2's for resale, its funded my missile complex that is fully self-suffient, producing mossies, silkworms, hornets and wasps. I'm going to add on to it eventually to produce HEPT's, PAC's & PRG's as well as 25mj sheilds in preperation for building a carrier fleet. I've kept one M2 i claimed, a Boreas, and using the marine repairs script, it is sloooowly being repaired free of charge. I have also compeleted the Argon/commonwealth plot and the player HQ plot and I've started to reverse engineer a bunch of ships, including the Aamon prototype you get from the plot reward and a full set of M5-M3+ Terran & atf ships i've claimed. Also re-'ed a kha'ak interceptor i was lucky enough to find. eventually i'd like to build another factory complex, this time producing everything needed to build ships.

GTAIV, slowly doing missions, thats about it really, 2-3 each time i play.

Reinstalled Age of Empires + Road to Rome the other day. I got sick of waiting for a new and awesome strategy game that tested me to come out and remembered that I barely gave this game a go when it was freshly released some ten or more years ago or whatever. At the time, I got into it hard but then AoE II came out and I was hooked for years, forgetting Road to Rome. So essentially it's like playing it for the first time again, and nothing has been stealing my attention away from it since.

I beat Saints Row 2 a while back. It was alright. The story was decent. The characters were cool and interesting. Like I said before, it was much more serious than the third, but still had that nice sense of humor thrown in the mix. Especially some of the first missions had some pretty crude sense of fun which appealed to me. The gangs were better than the ones in the third I think. My favorite one of them was the Brotherhood, they were the coolest one in pretty much every aspect. They had the coolest logo, gang members, colors, cars, style and last but not the least, their leader was one of the most badass characters in the game. Also, I really liked Johnny Gat. He's awesome. I think he should have been featured in more missions.
Spoiler
Also I like how they connect Saints Row to Red Faction by putting the Ultor corporation in the game, with all these references to RF. Seeing as I like both the Saints Row games and Red Faction, it's nice to see such a connection.

In other news, I have started playing Deus Ex (the first one) for the first time. I am still in the earlier parts of the game, where you're roaming around New York.

One bit of advice for Deus Ex: Remember to save often! It's a game from 12 years ago, and it doesn't have the same attitude to auto saving that we've come to expect! :(

I had that lesson drilled into me a few times when I played through it about 3 years ago...

I've reinstalled Deus Ex for the hundredth time, such a legendary game. I'm inside the Versalife building in Hong Kong. But the New York levels are exceptionally memorable and nostalgic, loads of fun! Heed Sean's advice though: save often!

I broke out my ancient PSX (the first Playstation for those not knowing) and much to my glee it still works! Even after being stashed in a back cupboard, buried under a thick layer of dust. So I got stuck into the one game I brought it out for: Future Cop LAPD. My god, it's perfect.

Heheheh... I remember Future Cop LAPD. Played a demo once, that was fun in multiplayer... you had bases and could build stuff.

Not sure if I rented it once actually... I think I did...

Was originally going to be a part of the Strike series. The Strike games were fun. Desert Strike was legendary, and I had Soviet Strike on PS1 which I don't think I ever finished but I do still have almost all of my PS1 games in a box in the attic with my PS1 :ninja:. One day, I'll possibly finish it.
Never played Urban or Jungle Strike on the Amiga or anything else back in the day IIRC though. Not sure what they were supposed to be like.

Indeed, Precinct Assault is your base-on-base game mode where you build tanks and helicopters to defeat your opponent (human or the always challenging Sky Captain AI opponent), plus there was the standard campaign mode Crime War, which is an equally fun romp. The fact that Future Cop is so obscure is an offence!

Haha I have Soviet Strike aswell, I could never finish the campaign without cheats way back when. Played it now, and it's a pretty solid, but hard, game.

Yeah, the last level. Which was insane. Tanks everywhere!

Started a new game in FEAR 3 on a higher difficulty as per usual. Absolutely love the gunplay in this game, with all that first-person cover mechanics and shiz.

And I whipped into some UT2004. I forgot how super fun and competitive this game can be, even if it's against bots.

I've been playing Skyrim alot recently. Erix can tell you that too. 100 + Hours in the past week i've been logged in, playing Skyrim. Considering Dawnguard now, I've completed the main storyline, companions, winterhold college, thieves guild, dark brotherhood i'm currently working on with my 2nd character (Also going to do the theives guild 100% to get the achievment.

My main character is currently level 40, gone for a Nord, Heavy armor, using Maces/shield only. got my alchemy and enchanting up to decent levels along with high smithing (just unlocked daedric smithing perk) and i've got as chest in breezehome with over 100 dragon bones and 90+ scales.
My 2nd Character is only lvl 14, Kahjit, Light armor, Sneak, lockpicking, pickpocketting, using daggers only. using this character to go through the theives guild including getting the ragged flagon fully upgraded and doing the dark brotherhood on this character, as i destroyed the dark brotherhood on my first character.
