Well i am brain storming mod ideas like crazy, and rather than give in to the temptation to post a dozen threads or so on the crazy ideas rattling in my mind I'm going to post them here. I'll update this first post with ideas as I get them. I just have so many ideas and, well, this would be a good place to throw out random ideas and get some feedback on them.  Comments and ideas are welcome.

Oh and if some one wants to take an idea and roll with it, just let me know.

Ideas I am having.

1. A Matrix mod: Lets, for a moment, blow what we've seen all in the movies out of the water. The way I envision this mod is more of a fanfic deal. Rather than just add units we know and love from the movies, we can add to the fiction a bit with some new units, structures and ideas of our own.

So now with renewed freedom, we do crazy things to the Matrix story to make a fun mod with at least two diverse factions, Enforcers of The Matrix, and the Forces of Zion.  This will give us to factions that, inherently, will play differently.

The problem with this mod is that it would require quite a bit of work, regardless of if its a Total Conversion or just adding two cool unique factions to the game.  But, in the end, we could see agents using features similar to the flow, and just play around with new concepts and ideas. The biggest downside to this idea is that Matrix story fans may shoot down the fact that you really can't have the forces of Zion fighting Agents, since agents are in the matrix. Well, we could justify it, say the agents are cyborgs or whatever we want, or we can just ignore them and say "just enjoy the game!"

My beef with this is, without some serious brainstorming, we won't be seeing a lot of use for the hard point system.  Unless of course we did something with the Enforcers of the Matrix where they had a central structure that could use different hardpoint upgrades for unit facility's and what not. This is a mod I personally hope to work on.

My mind got roaring on this subject after i played a Zero Hour mod that featured and easter egg Agent Smith who was able to clone himself.  With some tweaking that could have been balanced a bit better, but it was a lot of fun to have instant reinforcements.

2. The Shoguns: This is a smaller mod, but i just had the humorous notion that seeing a balanced shogun samurai army fighting against the UAW factions would be, not only fun, but humorous. This would be difficult to balance, and really it would just be a single faction in a small mod, but if the Ultimate Showdown mod ever comes to light, i could see a Shogun army becoming quite worthwhile in a free for all random tangent.

3. The Mighty Spam Faction: Now, noting how UAW plays out, the closest thing we have to a spam faction is the Novus, who don't 'really' spam like some games factions. Universe at War also lacks any "zerg-like" race. So a fun idea for a one-off faction mod would be any kind of alien bug race. Anything from Tyranids, starship troopers bugs, zerg. Hell, we could mix them all and call it "The Order of the Creepy Bug Aliens."

But now that got my mind going too. Hardpoints, how would we use them in an organic bug spam faction? Easy. For those 40k fans out there, Tyranids have a creature in their buggy little aramda called a Carnifex, a beast of a bug creature, able to take out tanks, regenerate limbs, and be generally scary.  But as far as the story goes for these creatures, the Carnifex is really upgradable through little evolutionarily adaptations.  So why can't we have giant evil big aliens mutate limbs? Tactical Dynamics in action if balanced right.  As for the spam? Well there exists in UAW a template for squads, we could keep numbers visually high and unit count against pop-cap low.  Of course, we wouldn't want to break your processor.

Again, a downside to this idea is that it would require alot of modeling and animating of evil bug aliens. As many of you know, its not like making a tank.  Personally i don't really see this one happening just because of the time involved in actually making the models and animating them.  It would be a lot of fun though.  But this subject leads me directly to my next, more manageable idea.

4.Aliens: Now I know there are a number of people who want to see Alien vs Predator mods and have posted on the forums about it. But this idea is more for the Aliens. Just as a one-off faction, again. They would make a good spam faction, and there wouldn't be a whole large ton of units to model, particularly if you don't want to go too deep into Alien lore. At base you'ld want  drones, warriors, queens, and a hive. You could make small changes to each of those to get the rest of the units, but still its quite some work.

More work still, and quite possibly impossible, would be to have the alien's actually climb onto walkers and do damage to hard points like that. Not only is that completely overcomplicated, it is probably impossible. But I can't say for sure myself.

Some pretty cool ideas here.

I'm going to pin this for now to help centralize a lot of modding ideas, others to share/find others with similar desires/help/create/expand on ideas. I hope others start brainstorming. Good job on taking the initiative.

Metal Gear Total Conversion idea:
I was having one about Metal Gear (Total conversion) where you are snake going around trying to recruit people from the ranks of the Soviet Union and Americans. You steal vehicles and Prototype mass-produced Metal Gears preventing the real one from causing massive mayhem. A fan fic story not relating to the real story but a what if the Soviet Union and Cold War still went on in the Metal Gear universe and turned hot. You go around a map and into bases "bribing" units using stealth tactics or you die   You fight with the army you got not Snake.

Metal Gear vs UaW:

Or having everything from good to bad and in between to fight against Hierarchy, Novus and Masari. Have Metal Gears pit up against walkers while the Russian troops go against the grunts. Have Fortune, Fat guy on rollerblades and Vamp kill off the Novus while Fox Hound and the rest go against the Masari (or whatever order). Could be a 4th unit mod add-on

the blind anime haters will be like "0mG! anime sucks and never make a mod out of it"

BUT.

Gundam Mod: I'm talking more Seed or original, as those are the decent ones, having entire armies going at each other, which each new mobile suit on different tiers, from the Ginn to the Gouf Ignited.

Code Geass: If anyone else has seen Code Geass, they can see how this would be a great mod.

Do a Star Trek Mod.
There's plenty of factions to use Federation Cardasians Romulan Star Empire Klingon Empire, Borg, Dominion.

Would probably work best as an EAW mod sand having all spaceships although there was a SC mod that did Star Trek by replacing things like the CC with Space stations in this case DS9 and just doing away with the terrain

Well, I'll do some spamming for JoJ. Clone Wars is all about the ground, clones, laat/i super cool powerful droid units. EaW isn't the best engine for intense combat, UaW is where it is at :D

Warriors of T3h InterWebz

This mod would turn the novus into interweb network warriors. Its just a unit renaming mod for fun, it will probably tweak and rename stuff to put the l337 machines in the Ultimate Showdown mod, give them stuff like SPAM! and YTMND, and Server Crash.

They are just asking for it. Its a simple mod ^^ might tweak a unit ability here or there and make it balanced for the Ultimate showdown mod.

very interesting... I was thinking in something more like in The Second Renaissance, in the first Man-Machine war:

For the hardpoint system, it could be used in the Humans Hovercrafts, like in the movies, they are all diferrent from eachother.
And just imagine how would the Machines resource system works... harvesting humans to power up the "plantation"...

Its something I would like to work on

Ok, this sound a little to fanatical to my favorite game but here goes, Warhammer 40,000, I mean even 38,000 years in the future, and the Sherman tank is still considered an effective weapon in an age of plasma guns and rifles that shoot rockets like bullets.  A race like the Imperial Guard could fight by swarming the enemy with a tide of infantry (cannon fodder) while pelting the real targets with Uber-artillery.

2 Alien race and 1 human add-on mod? This is only an idea and the reason I have this idea is because I found the faction selection a little dull. Its probably just me but I like choosing many different factions. A wider selection I mean.

-----------------------------
1) The Grey's:
The normally seen aliens who have round saucers doing all the things we know about with their main forces being air superior. They occasionally come to earth to harvest (and study) humans and any other living organism. They can harvest humans and gain triple the amount of resources as Hierarchy does with cows. They beam reinforcements down to the battlefield instantly and swarm the victim or enemy greatly. They'd use anything we know about stereotypical UFO's. They're trying to get revenge on the ones who captured and altered them. The
Infantry: Grey's (i.e: the ones from the Hierarchy walkers through part add-on)
Vehicles: *unconfirmed*
Air vehicles: Ordinary saucer shaped crafts
Super Weapon: *unconfirmed*
Resource: Destroyed vehicles harvesting, destroyed buildings.
Buildings: Many UFO crafts with build add-ons

2) The Andromida:
Lizard race built on brute strength and pride. They are known to be the toughest out of the toughest probably rivaling that of the Hierarchy. Even though they are powerful they are still kind to keep surviving as long as possible from their proper way of thinking. They have also been know to help humans covertly. Their ranking system goes by the longer the tail they have the more royal they are and if they sport wings they are the most royal of all. They themselves consider themselves "The Ultimate Warriors" since nobody yet has beaten them at their strength nor their pride. Since they're also telepathic they have an advantage predicting what the enemy will do next.

Infantry: Lizard man
vehicles: *unconfirmed*
Air Vehicles: One massive ship providing constant resources and units and heavily armed.
Super Weapon: Main ship's weaponry
Resources: Self Maintained & Can harvest any battle left overs.
buildings: Main ship with build add-on

(Units with the shorest tail can also harvest and can be used to attack other units. The one with the longest tail and with wings is the hero and the one with just a long tail will be a specially trained hero.)

3) Unique Human Resistance:
After seeing how humans were struggling and how there was certain doom in their future some kind aliens gave certain humans who proved themselves worthy weapons to assist the helpless humans. Those who have been proven not worthy were left alone as if they never existed. This means only a few yet been given extremely superior weaponry have been handed out. These humans are the ones who woke up to the call of 2012 and proved how useful to the aliens by informing the public yet were ridiculed by the masses. Others have been assisted by the aliens by just trying to evolve the human ways while the other 90% of the globe just continued polluting and the earth with no care at all. These 90% have been ignored so that these humans who prove themselves worthy against the invading foes have a way of evolving.

Infantry: Humans with advanced weaponry, Special ops team.
Vehicles: Upgraded tanks and futuristic weapons.
Workers: Human who harvest anything they can get their hands on and builds futuristic like buildings.
Buildings: Mobile bases (since they can't stay stationary or risk being wiped out)
Air vehicles: Modern and futuristic weaponry.
Super weapon: None

How about a mode change like the Masari, saucers fly while in one mode, and land and sprout legs while in another?

I've always been interested in what an alien from a gas giant (like Jupiter, Saturn, or Uranus) would be like.

High gravity, but high bouyancy. And no solid land either.

They'd be a lot like a nation of buzzers or jellyfish, but it'd be cool to expand how a creature that can literally fly around would come up with a tank, or aircraft (would there be a difference), or other such ilk.

Chromehounds. For anybody who doesn't know what that game is like, it's kind of like MechWarrior, but you make your own "hound" (called that because of the way they hunt for enemies in packs, like hounds) with weapons, a generator and cockpit even being choices. You also can customize the system chips and that will decide how many weapons you can fire at once and how stable you are, or speed and rotation.

But you could have a couple of basic hounds for each faction (the names would be Sal Kar, Morskoj, and Tarakia). They are pretty much like the Hierarchy walkers, they start weaponless, but you choose the weapons to put on them. The factions will also need bases to produce their other units, like tanks and infantry (aircraft should also be put in, but they aren't in Chromehounds). Each base hound for a faction will have a set speed and load (this will determine what weapons it can carry). This sounds like it could be competition for the Mechwarrior mod, but that seems to focus more on the mechs and less on the customization of them. Each faction could be given the basic builds of Soldier, Commander, Heavy Gunner (artillery), Sniper, Scout, and Defender. Each will have specific hardpoints they can have for each nation and will generally have about equal stats with variation between them in size, durability, and cost.

I really like the idea of a matrix mod. we can call it the third rennasance and say it happens after revolutions. If you'd played matrix online you'll know that the humans have built a bigger better and nearly indestructable city called New Zion and have released over a million people. a big conflict is coming.

You know, the hardpoints for UaW and their customization options really open up a lot of possibilities for mods.

This probably wouldn't fly with Microsoft, but a Halo mod. In this one, when you get Spartans (2's and 3's will be seperate units), they start with no armor but only an assault rifle. They have hardpoints for each piece of armor that they wear. You can use this hardpoint customization to get them different types of armor that are shown in Halo 3. These will have different effects on the Spartan. Maybe Microsoft would show more leniency to mods about Halo for games that used Live, but probably not.

The Shel-Kauron Combine

The Shel-Kauron Combine are a coalition of bloodthirsty, cunning cutthroat outcasts from many different races. They are known for their devices that utterly destroy the moral of their enemy. Their best example of this technology is the "Nightmare Battlesuit" used by one of the Combine's faction leaders, 'Harbinger'. They ravage the galaxy for slaves and more bodies to expand their armies. They are also known for their experiments in genetic mutilation; there have been reports of massive beasts, "Titans" as Hierarchy Troops have coloquilly named them, and are described to be as large, or larger than, a Hierarchy walker, and were tearing their walkers apart limb from limb.
Heros:
General Harbinger- General Harbinger is the leader of the leader of the Hunter-Killer faction within the Shel-Kauron Combine. His advanced suit of Nightmare Armor can render enemy troops useless and destroy Novus Decision protocols, making novus units useless.
Lord Xeiomus- Leader of the "Gene-splicers" faction within the Shel-Kauron Combine. An outcast Hierarcy gene-engineer, he took that gene-splicing knowledge and improved on it. He created the Combine "Gene-Titan" and uses them regularly.
High Lord Admiral Caligrus Morn- The leader of the Shel-Kauron Combine Navy and Aerospace forces. He only leaves orbit if he is in his heavily modified Type 984 Falcon Gunship.
