According to the german GameStar magazine, the release of UaW got delayed, and not just by a few days or weeks but actually to "Q1 '08".
Is that true? Basically I find delays ok, since it hopefully means less bugs in the release version, I'm fed up with games that get released in a way-too-buggy state, but Q1 08 sounds quite far away...

Can someone from Petro shed some light on this?

They wrote it in the magazine, not on their website, so no link, sorry.

Anyway, they also claimed the game was only 75% finished, while from what I've gathered it seems more like 95%, so they just might have written BS.

You guys panic too easily. As it stands the game is still on track to hit shelves in just over 5 weeks time. So don't cry wolf until you see everyone saying it.

I bet you're the type of guy that jumps off a bridge if everyone else is doing it, too :p

Why would a german magazine be the only one to know this? Would IGN, Gamespot, these very forums, ect have info on it first? They would at least tell us here on the forum.

They Probably got confused between the 360 Release date (Q1 08) and the PC Release Date (US October 30th, EU November 2nd)

Then it didn't happen
Sorry, I don't have a scanner.

There's not really an article about it. They just have a list with games to be released in the next months or so, with developer name, release date and first impression from previews (like "good", "very good" and so on, and no, they don't have an impression for UAW, since they made their only preview at a time when the game wasn't yet in a state to rate its potential)

@Saracen: I didn't panic, I was just a bit confused by this ;)

@Raiden: I think you're right. That would explain it.

When we originally went on a press tour to Europe a few months ago, there was some confusion with when the game would be coming out. I think there may still have been some of that going on.

To quote the article:

"Petroglyph's PC version of its RTS Universe at War: Earth Assault has been delayed.

Originally the game was due out on November 2 for PC, but it's now been pushed back to January 2008

"The new release date means that both the PC version and Xbox 360 version will launch closer together, allowing gamers to enjoy the full experience of this fantastic RTS from acclaimed developer, Petroglyph", a Sega rep told us."

Just read the same in German on Gamestar.de

This is news to me. Time to do some footwork...

However, if it were delayed, what it means is:
  • More time for the BETA
  • More people in the BETA
  • More polish / refinment

Which are not bad things.

Calm down everyone. Since we (Petro) have not heard of this delay, and we're the ones making the game, it's likely a miscommunication or just bad info.

Please wait for something official (from us) before freaking out.

Based on what I have found out, SEGA confirmed that the release of UaW has been postponed...

Besides, there are too many (potentially good) games coming out before the end of the year... Which means UaW would not have gotten the attention it needs.

Personally I hope this is true... I'm SO tired of everything coming out from sept-november. The game doesn't quite seem like it 4 or 5 months from completion really. However Windows Live sure does seem like it could use the time...
