08/05/2011 --- The return. I'll be leaving in a few days on august 5th. I'll be gone for two years doing the Lord's work, without internet, games, music, and just about everything. I'll be back, though. In '11, you can count on it.

Well I don't have much to say about meself.

I live in Utah, both a cultural and physical wasteland. Though the mountains are pretty, it's also the most geologically diverse place on the planet. Just in case you wanted to know.

I'm 19, attending uni and studying history at the moment. I am unsure of what path I should choose as career but I'd like to go down one of the following areas: Film, Paleontology, History, or some sort of biologist/wildlife photographer type thing.

I spend my spare time doing a few things. Mostly reading, I'm a bookworm and my favorite genre is historical fiction. I also read a lot of non-fiction historical stuff. Books most people wouldn't touch or have never heard of. Other than that I game and torture nearby people's ears with my pathetic attempts on my guitar.

My gaming tastes are specific and apparently I'm a dying breed of gamer. My preferred genres are RTS and FPS, to some extent. And even within those genres my tastes are quite defined. My favorite games of all time are the Total War games. Covering fascinating and brutal historical periods they're the ultimate combination of grand strategy and tactics to produce turn based RTS games that NEVER get old. My personal favorite is Medieval II Total War. I do have the latest, Empire Total War but tragically my computer's processor failed before I got a chance to get fully into it. A darn shame. The best of them all is Rome Total War. That's enough about that. I enjoy FPS's as well but a select few, most recent shooters I find shallow, boring, and require God's own rig to play.

That's enough about that. As far as my internet soul goes I'm a generally simple person. But I have habit that gets me into trouble quite often and that is that I feel 'free to speak my mind anywhere'. Seriously, I like being blunt. I don't care who you are, where your from, how old you are, what your status is, you are still subject to my lashing tongue should you deserve it. That's another thing too, it's characteristic of my personality type to disdain authority. I generally have no respect for people whose authority comes from rank, position, or title. If you want my respect you gotta earn it, that includes mods, admins, and devs.

Speaking about other people... In memory of the 'Local Forum Goers Famous For' thread. That was so tragically locked. I shall present my own views of the rest you here. Material shown here is recycled from that old thread and borrowed from other's descriptions, cause I am lazy.

Commander Loony -  I'm convinced that if I had an evil twin it would be Commander Looney. Local badass and metalhead totally devoted to his pagan Gods of metal, he is unafraid to unleash scathing remarks and opinions on anyone or anything. Violent in nature and in gaming, woe be unto those who stumble into his crosshairs, on the battlefield or on the forums. Brutal is the word that best describes him. But there may be evidence that deep down, he's a big softy.

Canadian Idiot - A prime example of "an old head on young shoulders". Wise beyond his years and wise beyond my years in many ways. Probably one of the more deep and sophisticated of us petro forum goers, Canadian Idiot has a heart of gold and couldn't hhurt a fly. Another devoted metal head and possesses a great appreciation of music and literature as well. Shares many of my interests and ideas. I took an instant liking to him when he first joined the forums, a liking that has only grown since. He's one hell of a guy and only 15, it boggles my mind to think of what he's going to be like as an adult.

Valdez - Hailing from the mystical land of Singapore, he's not an official ally, but I can't help noticing that he and I agree on many things. I thought I was laconic, Valdez takes it the max. It's virtually impossible to piss him off or get him worked up over anything. I must confess that in the early days when Valdez rarely ventured into the Off-Topic parts of the forum (my regular stomping grounds) I thought of Valdez as a simpleton that could draw. But since I have been astonished at his keen intelligence that likely surpasses mine and his unwavering wit. He also possesses mad art skills. If I could draw like him by simply killing him and drinking his blood, I'd do it without a moment's hesitation. I've always been envious of those who can draw. Valdez is no exception. Also known as the 'lulz' guy of the forums.

Ghostly Substance - My oldest friend and enemy of the interwebs. First encountered on ye olde Lucasarts Ghostly was my primary foe, my arch enemy. Since then it's been endless cycles of being friends and foes. When totally engrossed in a world of anime it's hard to stay sane. He does a good job staying sane, but I can't shake the impression that he sees the world like a disgruntled mailman would. Has some trouble organizing his thoughts in way that we can understand, yet he is one of the few that shares them. However his mind is always open to new things and isn't afraid to veiw things from a different perspective. On the boards he is known for his unlimited knowledge of anime, his almost-impossible-to-decipher-posts, swarms of new threads and for his somewhat "enlightened" outlook on life. Oh, and his trance.

Thunder - A quiet, reserved, and sometimes creepy Swede, Thunder is capable of inhuman hatred and rage, much of directed towards the human race. He may not like humans Thunder has his own reptile farm, an impressive collection of various snakes and lizards and a keen appreciation of prehistoric life like myself. That alone gives Thunder full points in my book.  Little else can I say for Thunder is a mysterious person who rarely posts.

You can tell a lot about someone by what kind of music they listen to, or nothing at all. I fall somewhere in between there. In some ways my music preferences represent me very well, and in some ways not at all. Anyway first a short musical history of myself. I never much liked music. Was never into it, didn't take any lessons on anything as a child and even as an adolescent I didn't listen to anything, save for Star Wars soundtracks. I didn't know that I liked but I did listen to what my friends listened to and knew that I, in fact did not like it all. Twas all soft rock type stuff, vocals like that of a boyband and dull instrumentals... I did listen to some classic rock, a precious few songs from the likes of Ozzy, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, etc. Then, one fateful day, when I was 16 I was driving to work and heard the one song that kicked off my er... music life... Or something that sounds less stupid than that. It was 'Du Hast' by Rammstein. It was almost as if the song was hand crafted for me. Heavy bass grind, brutal vocals in the mighty guttural language of German, and some electronic elements to mix it up. I loved it and when I got home I promptly got on my comp, went onto itunes and sampled the music of Rammstein. Well I ended up getting all of their albums as well as other industrial metal music. I then slowly branched out into other genres, mostly metal. Primarily in Metallica and Slayer, Thrash Metal being my favorite genre at the moment. Lately I've been moving in other more odd directions, primarily in Celtic/Folk genres. Also into German pop a little bit and other odds and ends. From my friend I received a lot of Alternative stuff in the form of Faith No More and The White Stripes. And recently in heavier areas, recent acquisitions include Lamb of God. Anyway so I have an odd mix of music that I listen too.
