Looks like being able to 'access' the internet has become a controversial issue to some because it allows children to use the internet in 'inappropriate' ways...

Bah at least they're not moaning or anything. Just trying to encourage parents to watch the usage of it etc.

Hell I wish! In NZ hardly anyone has wireless networks - and those that do don't typically entecrypt them.....:)

I thought about not buying the wii, now I have made my decision...

I will buy it...

Why aren't they targeting PSP as well and other small gadgets the kids can get their hands on?

that's so rediculous... you can access that stuff by phones now and etc. If a kid wants they find it no matter how much you watch them

Indeed...

And maybe the Wii is getting more flak because the name can be equated to a certain male reproductive organ?

Personally, I think these people are idiots. How about you disable the internet channel on the Wii instead of complaining?

Perhaps instead of addressing the supply of the questionable material, one should address the source of the demand for it.

Also a good solution. But you have to download the internet channel on the Wii. If parents don't want their kids on the internet and maybe looking at porn on it, they should delete that download or not download it in the first place. I have a Wii and it should be simple to delete the channel. I haven't tried it though.

Give me a FRICKIN BREAK!

If parents are so concerned, have the Wii be placed in the living room so parents can keep an eye on whats going on, as well as the computer. DUH! Stupid parents!

So what about the kids that cruise down to the local corner store and check any one of a multitude of magazines within reach... like when I was a young wipper snapper. You cannot shelter your children from everything. You teach them how to manage and interpret the information. You do the opposite and you end up with groups of little maniacs and trouble makers because they were censored their whole childhood from things that would "hurt them." Those "hurt them" things then became the same things they got obssesed with later in life. Yes... it's a simple deduction but a true one.

At least that's how some of my friends from middle school and even high school turned out. :(

Lol, when I went to pick up CGM a few days ago for the UaW special, there was an issue of Maxim right next to it...rather good product placement if you think about it. <_<

There have been so many quotes from people about how we shelter kids from sex, yet say violence is OK, you can play GTA with your 10 year old son..it's rather hypocritical, IMO. I don't have anything against violent video games, but damn: parents would freak out if said 10 year old son saw a site with women in bikinis online.

I don't even play GTA. I don't like the idea of killing cops, but that doesn't mean I'm against virtual killing completely.
