Quote Auto Assault developer NetDevil is collaborating with Lego on a Lego MMORPG.
Full details have yet to be disclosed, but judging by the announcement on the project it'll be directed more at a younger audience.
"The LEGO brand represents construction, creativity and problem solving - values that compliment the MMOG market. By merging the online world of social interaction with physical play, the LEGO brand is providing new experiences for children, as well as fans", said Lisbeth Valther Pallesen, Executive Vice President, Community, Education and Direct Division LEGO Group.
"NetDevil's technological capability, openness to work with a large community, and their enthusiasm for the LEGO brand made them a natural partner."
An official website for the Lego MMORPG has been set up, informing that the game is scheduled for release in 2008. But that's all at this stage.
You can check out the Lego MMORPG website here: http://www.lego.com/mmog/
At the moment it is pretty blank. But the concept is intruiging.

Now that would be cool. I'd play a lego MMORPG over any other MMORPG out there at the moment.

What makes any of you think it's an MMORPG?
They talk about a MMOG, it doesn't have to be roleplaying at all.
Could be a building game, where you collaboratively build an online world.

Legos have been my favorite toy since forever, so if you can build things like you can in real life I'd love it.

Well, if the fans are building their own world, of course they're going to role-play

All depends on how well it works, IMO.
It could rule, or fail.

No worries- this may beat buying all those sets, which last I checked isn't cheap.
I'm a big lego fan, but I haven't messed around with them in years. But I think my main motivation to have children is so I have an excuse to play again . (note: I'm exaggerating)

I still have three 60 liter bins of legos... and that's not including the box of legos under the bed, nor the Viking sets on the entertainment set, nor the random bits in my dresser drawers....
So this might be up my alley!
