While the technology is interesting, it isn't practical. Doing that kind of thing all day would be tiring, to say the least. I'd expect this kind of interface to be more or less ignored in favor of developing direct neural interfaces.

Perfect, now to get our hands on it literally
Can't wait to play RTS games on it.

Oh...I think this is exactly the kind of thing that will really catch on! That sort of interface would really revolutionize portable devices (laptops, PDA's, etc.) as well as have some very interesting PC applications as well. I can even see that technology being used on console gaming systems and more. Very cool stuff.
And sponsored by BMW I might add (sorry, had to say that since I work for them heheh)!

The Gaming Industry and Graphics industries in general will probably latch onto this technology in my mind as it will allow you to model and map things in a completely different way.

Touch screen stuff is neat, and can be built reasonably fast. For an exhibition last summer a couple people put together a pair of touch screens based on infrared in a month or so. It worked pretty well for a prototype, but it wasn't perfect (it worked quite well with me for some reason). I don't think it will cause a huge revolution in content creation, as most of this has been done with tablets and such already. It really requires that the applications be designed for this sort of interaction as well, and the current content tools definitely aren't.
