Soundtracks, because for some reason I can't listen to music with lyrics I can understand (and thus I DO listen to Rammstein).

But more specifically, I prefer electronica and metal (which is why I can't get enough of the CnC soundtracks), and to an extent orchestral.

When I was growing up I was exposed to two types of music... Classical and Rock. Hard to find something to rebel against your parents with when you're listening to Mozart and Metallica....

Soundtrack, Electronic/techno/Trance, Heavy Metal

Soundtrack only if the music in the movie or show is within my music tolerance zone and from Anime shows mostly. I also listen to trance and European Heavy Metal such as Rammstein and Nightwish. Thanks to Raziel I can slowly listen to more and more of Rammstein and Nightwish. Anime music has many genres in itself luckily and half of it is instrumental or techno/trance like.

Frank Zappa -- I get all my food groups under one roof. Classical, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Avant Garde, Raggae, Doo Wop and even a little country.

Seriously.

I dont enjoy music with lyrics unless I get something out of them... like comedy or a singer with something unique.

I'm all over the map... I enjoy classical like Varese, Bartok, Nacarrow and Webern. My favorites as a small kid were Rush, Genesis and Yes. As a young teenager I found Zappa and from there I got into a whole mess of oddball stuff from Henry Cow to Melt Banana. So just about everything.

If I have any hip-hop going on its usually Tribe Called Quest. I grew up with the Beasties since I lived in NYC in Brooklyn so I still buy all their stuff.

Electronic music ... lately its all my buddies music. Look up Milieu on myspace.com

I voted for heavy metal, but I also enjoy rock, grunge, and alternative. I don't care for many of the newer bands these days...I'm still a big fan of Nine Inch Nails, classic Metallica, Alice In Chains, etc. I like classic rock as well from time to time. Right now I've been listening to Evanescense's new CD.

I agree about bands now... that I dont like much either. haha.

There is nothing much going on in rock that hasnt been done over and over. The same whining voices with 3 chord tricks. Radio dishes out more poot that I can take. So I dont listen to it much if ever. NPR is about it for radio unless there is a classical or jazz channel on.

I like Beck for new stuff simply because he knows how to blend together so many different forms of music so well. I'm sure there are others out there but I dont have the patience to find em.

I like old school rock. Everything that comes out these days is pretty much crap. Like Phlakaton said all of this new stuff is whining and/or screaming with 3 chords in the background and some one abusing a good set of drums.

Yeah, I could go on and on with what's wrong with music today. Bands I thought were just phenominal never even had more than 1 or 2 top 10 hits (Faith No More, what a bunch of studs!). I listen to the local stations, but half the time I find myself hearing a song and thinking "what the hell kind of rock is this!?"

It's a shame really...you're right Phlakaton...no originality (Tool's new album was good though)
