News: Gears of War: THE FILM

CAA conducted the auction, which featured a 21-page treatment by Beattie, who wrote "Collateral" and the upcoming "3:10 to Yuma" and "30 Days of Night."
Studio's deal is with Epic, the game's developer, which held onto all ancillary rights to the property when Microsoft signed on to publish the game. Though not announced yet, a sequel vidgame is assured. If development of both projects goes smoothly, New Line and Epic would surely love to see the film and a game sequel come out around the same time.

The film had a target release date of summer 2008, however production was halted due to financing problems in October 2006.

I'm well aware that was a bad pun.
Oh, Hissingnewt, you have an INCREDIBLE talent for stating the obvious.

The game's storyline wasn't very well told on in the game. The characters were somewhat bland, but the game was very fun.

But a GoW movie? Now that's milking it.

Thank you Petroglyph for being here in the dark ages of RTS gaming! May your bright torch lead the way for other developers led astray. You make me happy as long as you stay alive, and I will dedicate my life to thee to make this dream come true!

However, I will not disagree that the multiplayer was awesome. I still play it with my brothers.
In total, Halo is one of the better Console FPSs, although Goldeneye64 is still the best. Compare it to PC FPSs, however, and it falls short.
And as for Wiki, don't you ever pay attention to the news, Tok? Wikipedia has been sued no less than six times already this year because people go in and put information that isn't accurate. Just because the information says it is sourced doesn't always mean it is. Sometimes they are accurate, more often than not you need to take what you see on Wiki with a grain of salt and wait for more official sources.
And for the topic, I agree with Phlakaton: It's more fun to play it than to watch it, and there is no way on earth I'd pay to watch a movie about GoW. It didn't even really -have- a story, so what would the movie be about anyway? Another gory no-brainer action flick? We don't need more of those.

And before you say "WELL EA WOULD SCREW IT UP OMG", I honestly don't think they would. I dunno, but for some reason I get the notion that a movie made of CnC couldn't go wrong as easily as most game-to-movie adaptions.

C&C would only work if they reinterpreted it a bit, for instance, I could imagine a sci-fi series based on Red Alert but with more of a grittiness and realism to it, it would be quite original.
Think WWII + conspiracy technology, an underlying theme that even with the best intentions, terrible things can occur (i.e. Einstein's fiddling with history), and of course, the enigma of where the hell this new reality will eventually end up in the future, I mean coming from a non-C&C view, how the hell could they see something like Tiberium turning up in a few decades time just because of the Hitler assassination? Personally I would like it to mainly take a 'band of brothers' approach and not focus on a unrealistic one man army character, but not so much that it looks like a blatant attempt to add sci-fi to Band of Brothers, side stories can cover the leaders on both sides and the people pulling the strings in the background (i.e. Kane, who HAS to be Joe Kucan).
The best part is, unlike most sci-fi series, there is a decent framework for the progression of it over time, i.e. TD and TS which both have their own unique themes (I would recommend wiping out RA2 altogether).

So come on you fiends, turn Starcraft into a friggin movie. Hell, make it a saga like Star wars where each race's 'episode' was one movie in itself. Like the first episode would be from the Terran's perspective, the next would be from the Zerg, then the Protoss, then the 4th would be the Protoss again, then the Terrans as the 5th episode, and finally, the last movie episode would have Sarah Kerrigan's conquest over everything and then a climactic 'To be continued' thing. (As to follow what Starctaft and Brood War's story order)
