How much do the old C&C's cost nowadays? I'm young so I never really had a chance to play those awesome old-school games, and I'm interested in them now.

Any idea how much they cost nowadays? Preferably American or Canadian money. Either works.

i couldnt tell ya, you can try looking on amazon, or ebay, for those games are REALLY hard to find, and the ones you can find, will probably tainted with the EA logo allover the disc.

but yeah, try amazon, or ebay.

This belongs in the off-topic forum... but if you want to buy the C&C games, I suggest buying them in a package, like The first decade which has all of them at a huge discount.

Sweet. I think I will.
StickDeath
the first decade does not have Sole Survivor on it, so thus it doesnt have all of them. that, and it has been tainted with the EA logo all over the place.
Farfalo
Well, EA did ONE thing right, I suppose. They put the majority of the C&C series in one package for like 30 bucks. 12 game for 30 bucks seems like a good deal. I think I'll get it. Besides, in heart, it was made by Westwood. It still has sacred ground in my house..*ahem* the shelf...
popcorn2008
Well sure if you want to get technical it doesnt have all of them. But seeing as sole survivor is no longer supported and not to mention is quite a throw away game anyway I didnt think it mattered that much. lol.

I think a logo is hardly grounds to not go for a good bargain. But suite yourself if you wish to search tidiously on eBay for the original packages for almost three times the cost. smile.gif

laugh.gif Too bad we arent all so lucky. I had the original packaging but its all scattered around and it would take me years to find them all lol. I swear i've bought the entire series three times, I really love the games but i would either scratch up a CD or lose it or something of that nature and I would succumb to buying them all over again tongue.gif .

This time the first decade will hopefully be my final copy lol!

i've only had to rebuy one, but i couldnt find just Renegade, so i had to buy a pack with TS, FS, RA2, RA2:YR, and Renegade. never lose your Renegade CD-Key.

Hm... all I got left of Tiberian Sun and Firestorm (The original ones not tainted by EA) is the CD's and the cases... sort of... the front of the cases broke off a long time ago... so really I only have the CD I guess dry.gif
popcorn2008
CD-Keys are such a pain! You have to guard them with your life pratically. Putting them on the manual made things a little worse IMO, b/c I usually misplace the manual after the first day of playing the game.

Man, you guys brought up a priceless childhood memory - the first "real" computer game I ever played/watched was Tiberian Sun, at a friend's house. I remember being like 9 or 10 and telling my mom on the streetcorner outside a gaming shop, that when we finally got a "new" computer (besides our 66mhz 486dx) with Windows 95 (we had been stuck in 3.1 for 4 years) that the first game I want to get is that "command and conquer game!" Then she asked me if it was violent and I said it wasn't. at all. biggrin.gif
Corsair
Heh, I had originally bought the game for someone else but they didn't like it, so they gave it back to me. Glad they did, fun game laugh.gif

Tiberian Sun? I laugh! Hah!

My first real game was Command & Conquer (Tiberian Dawn) on DOS, baby. Jaw-dropping Full Motion Video and incredible graphics.

Well, at the time biggrin.gif

The FMVs were a huge part in my liking it. Even today I prefer the original C&C's movies to the other C&C's movies, content-wise. For some reason the movies after TD and RA never quite lived up to them. It seemed to me like the actors overacted too much. (McNeal: "Let's kick some ass?") Like, wtf? This is NOT a hollywood movie damnit! Don't ever say those stupid catch-phrase one-liners in my presence again!
At least Kane didn't say "I'll be back" in a thick german accent before he 'died' in a typical supervillain-disconnected-from-reality kind of way wink.gif

This is what I liked about the original, and I hope will happen in P-02, if it has FMV (please please please smile.gif):
It seemed real. People (Seth) were shot without warning and without "you're going to die, any last words?" speeches.
Gen. Sheppard really looked tired at the end of the GDI campaign, as if he hadn't slept in nights.
It seemed believable, it seemed like you were there. Like the two of you went through this together. And the missions really made you believe like there was something bigger going on.

Red Alert's movies were of the same quality as TD's. Content-wise that is.

Tiberian Sun messed it up by disconnecting you from the movie and providing an on-screen representation of you (McNeal and Slavik, resp.). Combined with the overall dialog it looked more like a cinema movie (where's my popcorn?) than a briefing.

Firestorm fixed it somewhat by having the actors address you again. Too bad I think Slavik can't act, sort of messing up the Nod campaign movies glare.gif

I have mixed feelings about RA2's movies. At least they address you, but overall it seemed too... unreal. They made them funnier and I'm not entirely sure that was such a good thing to do. Not as far as I'm concerned. But then again, RA2 as a whole was very cartoony, so in that regard the movies and gameplay matched.

And Renegade and Generals had CG, so I'm not even going to touch that.

Anyway, to get back on topic: I have the First Decade, and it's not a bad deal. It's got some bonus DVD as well, which is mostly people liking C&C talking about what's great about C&C, so it's at least fun to watch once tongue.gif

Sageking, were you one of the employees of Westwood? I know that Delphi and a few others who's names I can't remember did.

I agree 100%, now that I think about it, one reason I didn't like Tiberian Sun as much as the first 2 games was due to the over the top movies and poor acting. That, and the fact that I had been playing Red Alert to death for years and at that point Tiberian Sun just seemed too different and strange.

I don't think Sageking was. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Here you can find al games still in the shop (maybe not the first one and the expansion packs) but you can't find the first decade. At least, I haven't seen it. Red Alert I costs here around 5 €.

The first one I bought was a pack with C&C and red alert with al expansion packs. 8 Discs at the time (1 for a demo of TS).
Mighty BOB!
I wouldn't get The First Decade. EA was lazy and outsourced it to a company that had no idea what it was doing and as a result it is full of bugs (and all the sexy installers have been replaced with the lame default Windows installer).

Just grab a couple of compilation packs off Amazon & or ebay instead.

No, Sage is new to the team smile.gif

I actually got multiple copies of C&C1 and Cov. Ops. The day I loose all of them is going to be the day I die! For me the first one really is RTS is the most perfect form.

You should do some sort of forum search for a fix which allows you to play C&C1 and RA1 via LAN (it's worth it!) since EA did not fix this. Renegade is a true gem as well (online, for the most of it), I think it's the shooter I enjoyed the most online, EVER. closedeyes.gif
