In EoN, we&rsquo;re creating a world where thousands of players can play concurrently, something that has yet to be done successfully in previous MMORTS games. We haven&rsquo;t reached a technical limit on the number of players on one map, but from a design standpoint, 50 players or so feels about right for the big test map we used. The game creates multiple copies of these public instances when some arbitrary playability threshold is met, much like the way Everquest II works. Private battlefields also create multiple instances, one for each group that enters, so the upper limit is more of a technical issue than a design issue.&quot;</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/545/feature/4402/page/1" target="_blank"><img alt="" height="313" src="http://images.mmorpg.com/features/4402/images/magadon_tanks_t.jpg" width="500" /></a></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Head over to <a href="http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/545/feature/4402/page/1" target="_blank">Mmorpg.com</a> to read the rest of the dev diary by Joe!</p> Wed, 21 Jul 2010 15:26:06 -0700End of Nationshttp://www.petroglyphgames.com/newsarticle/trion-worlds-and-petroglyph-premiere-the-music-of-end-of-nations-during-video-games-live-at-comic-con-sdTrion Worlds and Petroglyph Premiere the Music of End of Nations During Video Games Live at Comic-Con: SD<p> <link href="file:///C:%5CUsers%5CMATHEW%7E2%5CAppData%5CLocal%5CTemp%5Cmsohtml1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml" rel="File-List" /><o:smarttagtype name="State" namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"></o:smarttagtype><o:smarttagtype downloadurl="http://www.5iamas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="City" namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"></o:smarttagtype><o:smarttagtype downloadurl="http://www.5iantlavalamp.com/" name="place" namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"></o:smarttagtype><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <w:DontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if !mso]><object classid="clsid:38481807-CA0E-42D2-BF39-B33AF135CC4D" id=ieooui></object> <style> st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } </style> <![endif]--><style> <!--{cke_protected}%3C!%2D%2D%0A%20%2F*%20Style%20Definitions%20*%2F%0A%20p.MsoNormal%2C%20li.MsoNormal%2C%20div.MsoNormal%0A%09%7Bmso-style-parent%3A%22%22%3B%0A%09margin%3A0in%3B%0A%09margin-bottom%3A.0001pt%3B%0A%09mso-pagination%3Awidow-orphan%3B%0A%09font-size%3A12.0pt%3B%0A%09font-family%3A%22Times%20New%20Roman%22%3B%0A%09mso-fareast-font-family%3A%22Times%20New%20Roman%22%3B%7D%0Aa%3Alink%2C%20span.MsoHyperlink%0A%09%7Bcolor%3Ablue%3B%0A%09text-decoration%3Aunderline%3B%0A%09text-underline%3Asingle%3B%7D%0Aa%3Avisited%2C%20span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed%0A%09%7Bcolor%3Apurple%3B%0A%09text-decoration%3Aunderline%3B%0A%09text-underline%3Asingle%3B%7D%0A%40page%20Section1%0A%09%7Bsize%3A8.5in%2011.0in%3B%0A%09margin%3A1.0in%201.25in%201.0in%201.25in%3B%0A%09mso-header-margin%3A.5in%3B%0A%09mso-footer-margin%3A.5in%3B%0A%09mso-paper-source%3A0%3B%7D%0Adiv.Section1%0A%09%7Bpage%3ASection1%3B%7D%0A%2D%2D%3E--> </style><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]--></p> <p class="MsoNormal"> <b>Acclaimed game composer Frank Klepacki to perform during Video Games Live at Comic Con </b><o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal"> <strong>Redwood <st1:city w:st="on">Shores</st1:city> <st1:state w:st="on">&amp;</st1:state> <st1:state w:st="on">Los Angeles</st1:state>, <st1:state w:st="on">Calif.</st1:state> &ndash; July 21, 2010 &ndash;</strong> Trion Worlds and Petroglyph Games are bringing the epic soundtrack of the highly-anticipated MMORTS, End of Nations<span style="font-size: 6pt;">TM</span>, to Comic-Con International: <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">San Diego</st1:place></st1:city> during a special performance of Video Games Live. Adapting End of Nations became more about finding a way to humanize the conflict between the oppressors and the oppressed, and Petroglyph and Trion Worlds gave me the freedom to create, from scratch, characters and situations that fit within the milieu of the world of End of Nations.&quot;</em></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="http://www.newsarama.com/comics/trion-worlds-wildstorm-exclusive-interview-100714.html" target="_blank"><img alt="" height="471" src="http://i.newsarama.com/images/EON-Issue-0-cover.jpg" width="600" /></a></p> Wed, 14 Jul 2010 10:57:39 -0700End of Nationshttp://www.petroglyphgames.com/newsarticle/end-of-nations-e3-preview-at-gamervisionEnd of Nations E3 Preview at Gamervision<p> Gary Wagner from Trion Worlds talks with <a href="http://gamervision.com/users/jonathan_h_cooper/articles/e3_10_preview_end_of_nations" target="_blank">Gamervision</a> about End of Nations in another fantastic preview from our showing of the game at E3.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> &quot; While seeing the game at the show, the developer displayed a few different areas, all of which looked fantastic. The game isn&#39;t attempting to push out the best graphics ever seen, but they&#39;re definitely keeping up with the current generation. When it comes to gameplay, it seems to play like a fairly traditional RTS with the sensibilities of an MMORPG. The instanced missions, for example, can easily be equated to dungeons from MMO games, something that makes sense in practice. In that sense, the massive battles are essentially raid missions, something that, while not shown off at E3, is certainly alluring.&quot;</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="http://gamervision.com/users/jonathan_h_cooper/articles/e3_10_preview_end_of_nations" target="_blank"><img alt="" height="338" src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/gamervision_production/end-of-nations-for-pc-original_1274719705_8se.jpg" width="600" /></a></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> To read the rest of the preview, head over to <a href="http://gamervision.com/users/jonathan_h_cooper/articles/e3_10_preview_end_of_nations" target="_blank">Gamervision</a>!</p> Tue, 13 Jul 2010 08:32:49 -0700End of Nationshttp://www.petroglyphgames.com/newsarticle/-sommer-community-aktion- Sommer Community Aktion!<p> Die SMG feiert ihr 3000 Community Mitglied, und jeder von euch kann mitmachen!
