The Petroglyph Community

Forums are a place where like minded individuals lurk to discuss and debate various topics. When a game is announced, goes gold, releases a demo or two, and finally arrives on physical or digital shelves, gamers venture over to the forums.

Old friendships may break up to pave way to new ones. Members may come and go depending upon the games in development; time isn't eternal here, but the community as a whole is. Similar to the physical world, individuals tend to frequent the sites and forum threads they favor.

Forums often align with a specific subject or thought wave that attracts like minded individuals. Various forums are still aligned to Petroglyph specific games, such as: Empire at War modding, Universe at War, Mytheon, and various off-topic materials. Members would discuss things as they would mod various units to the best of their abilities.

A Forum is like a city which requires individual residents to keep the whole going. You could make the forums as glorious as New York, Paris, Las Vegas, or as desolate as some rundown city. Police and army would be the mods and admins, festivals and events would be hosted game events, and concept art would be the ads and posters hung on the sides of buildings.

To top off the analogy, Petroglyph developers would be the city council and the community members are those trying to maintain their desired city layout, much like you would when moving into a house and decorating it to your tastes. The nicer the view the more popularity gained by the locals.

What attracts you to Petroglyph's games and this community? Is it the modding abilities or fan fiction created by the fans? Is it the support and experienced developers behind Petroglyph's projects? It may surprise some, but the members ultimately help make or break a game. The more members assist, the better the game would be received, and probably liked.

Freedom of speech (within reason) and to share your creations on a forum is what this community is about. Many new game modifications were born in the process and many new dramatic battlefronts spawned because of it, not to mention new relationships and a friendly, social atmosphere.

Quotes From The Devs

Mytheon

The Warcaster

"The Warcaster is much like an offensive General, specializing in summoning offensive creature companions and casting spells that support those creatures. Warcaster buff spells are self AOE auras, meaning that the Avatar needs to be within a specific range of his creatures in order for them to benefit from these effects. Since the Warcaster avatar will be in the fray, the Warcaster's innate defense and HP will be higher than any other class."

The Eidolon

"The Eidolon is a defensive class who specializes in is stealth and trickery tactics against enemy companions; charming, stunning, or fearing them through various means (spells and their unique creature types) into submission or annihilation. The Eidolon will specialize in hunkering down behind defensive lines and sending out creatures designed to harass, disorganize, and lure the enemy to their destruction."

The Elementalist

"The Elementalist is a balanced class, utilizing both offensive and defensive abilities in combat. The unique flavor of the Elementalist is that each and every spell, creature, and structure has an elemental damage type component to it. The Elementalist will be quite mobile on the battlefield, retreating and advancing as tactics dictate."
